Power commander 5 is the best. You can add a heads up display, wideband o2 controlled feedback so no matter where you got the original tune it will run the same at any altitude on the planet. (within reason, no Mount Everest). you can also add some other modules to the PC-V. Best hands down without going to a full standalone system.

It all depends on what you are looking for in a programmer. PC3 is all you need to add fuel when you go with an aftermarket exhaust and intake. PC5 will give you some extra features as stated above. Both of these options require dyno tuning to get the most out of your bike. If you change anything, you will need to upload new maps or get it re-tuned tho.

PowerPro always auto-tunes regardless of what you change on your bike later. The newest version (PowerPro Black) has had some issues causing FI light to come on. Cobra has been exchanging circuit boards or exchanging the unit with updated ones if you have any issues, but shipping back and forth may be an issue for you from overseas. I have the previous version of the PowerPro and absolutely love it! I started out installing it when I only had Cobra Swept exhaust. Then I added HyperCharger intakes and changed exhaust to Freedom Sharp Curved. The PowerPro adjusted to the changes without missing a beat.

Explain how it tunes itself please? does it use an o2 sensor to hit a target AFR in an AFR table? PC5 with autotune unit will actually autotune. there is no tuning without a feedback circuit from a wideband o2 sensor (5V). I would like to know how the powerpro accomplishes this. you don't need a dyno with an autotune unit attached to the PC5, you just need the proven AFR targets that I can get to you for free.

Why does a dyno run show limited HP gain?
The "event memory" function of the PowerPro would not have "learned" the adjustments on a 1st or 2nd run. If you keep running on that dyno you will see improvement on your results based on the unit learning how to improve the motorcycle's power.

Will this cure decel popping?
Cobra won't take credit for completely curing decel popping but it has been noted by all users of the PowerPro that it has reduced decel popping to the point where it is all but gone.

Does it fit a [INSERT MOTORCYCLE]?
Check here: http://cobrausa.com/fuel.php
I was told by Rick at Cobra that they do not make a PowerPro for California motorcycles. (With the O2 sensor) He did suggest disabling the stock O2 sensors and then tune the bike as a open loop. (Which I was thinking would work anyways.)

How much does it cost?
$477.74 - Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Cobra-Fi2000R-.../dp/B004C1XQWM
$479.95 - PhatPerformanceParts.com http://www.phatperformanceparts.com/...0R%2DPP&CartID

$539.99 - CruiserCustomizing.com http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/fi...t/BLV92-1650AT

Is this right for me? *TAKE THIS LIST WITH A GRAIN OF SALT*
This is a question I cannot answer for you. This is certainly not for everyone. Ask yourself if any of the following statements represent you:

  1. I want to tune my bike to get the absolute MOST from the mods I have chosen. I want it to run it's best from the turn of the key to start and turn it off.
  2. I have access to a dyno and/or the cost of multiple dyno runs does not intimidate me… I will make sure I have my bike tuned correctly.
  3. I need to improve the MPG I am getting from my bike.
  4. I am a control nut when it comes to my bike. I just like to tinker and adjust things. If I surrender to a small box that is making the decisions for me I may lose my mind.
You are probably a poor candidate for the PowerPro if you answered YES to any of the above.

  1. The PowerPro will need to "learn" your bike every time you start it. It won't be at 100% for a couple blocks. IF HOWEVER, you can handle that then you will see improvements similar to a Power Commander.
  2. If the cost of the PowerPro seems high, just think about the cost of multiple dyno runs on top of the Power Commander.
  3. I have not seen many people improve their MPG but it also hasn't decreased.
  4. You will need to turn over control to the PowerPro… I know it's hard.
