Why did they only sell the 2008 and 2009 C109R's and RT's in the USA, but they have new models in other countries?

Yea it was sad that they are no longer in the showroom when the time comes for another it would be the first bike on my list.
I can understand the reason as there are so many choices out there for this type of bike but none have all the features. Some have water cool and Fuel injection but do not see many of the same size having the Shaft Drive. I could be wrong but I do not see many choices of bikes with all three and those three are what I'm looking for when it comes time to replace. But by then I may have to go the Goldwing or similar type of bike as the wife really wants a lazy boy on the back.
I plan on keeping the R for as long as I can, I would sell the 800 before I got rid of the R. I like my 800 it was my first street bike but love the R and ride it as much as possible.
Hopefully sometime in the future we will see a new one from Suzuki that would replace the R.

What I was told is that they wanted to get them cleaned out of the dealers before they imported more in. When the economy went bust they didn't try to force dealers to take more models than what they would be able to sell. Still a few new ones sitting on the floors out there.Good deals can be had.

if i recall correctly they do sell them in Canada at least up through a 2010 model but I think it was only available as an RT version  . it seems that many asian big motor bikes are not selling well here in the states.

The economy excuse doesn't make sense. Most other countries on the planet have crappy economies and the bikes cost a lot more $$ to begin with. My biggest problem is the availability of aftermarket parts or the availability of oem parts in a few more years.

There's a lot of 1100 + cc bike choices. Word of mouth and being seen is what sells bikes. Sort of a chicken / egg thing with the C109. Not enough sold to be seen,. then they stopped making/selling new ones, and they don't get the publicity if there's no new models, so new buyers don't know they exist. And who wants to lay down 15 grand on a 3-4 year old new bike?
