It's looking like there will be some 9's around, but mostly on Saturday from what I can tell. I guess the question now is what everyone wants to do.

WHOSE COMING?

IF you are planning on being in the area to ride, post up when and maybe an appropriate organized ride can be put into place.

I will definately be there for saturdays ride. I should arrive in Boone between 7:30 and 8:00 am. I will be there all day, and looking forward to riding as much as possible. I understand if you decide to cut saturdays ride a little short since the attendance looks like it will be down, but I plan on riding somewhere most of the day. After the days ride, I will be heading back to Boone to take the wife and daughter out for dinner and just spend some family time.
I just need a location and time to meet everyone on saturday morning. Still keeping my fingers crossed for great weather.
PS, for anyone not staying in the cabins, we will be at the "INN PLACE" in Boone.

From the looks of it there will be maybe 4 or 5 bikes in the area for a Saturday ride. We could do either ride or mix it up, whatever. I live here so I don't care. Post up your thoughts if you are going to be here to ride on Saturday and we'll figure it out before the end of the week. We need to post up the plans here for all to see.

I kind of was looking forward to the original ride that you had planned for saturday. The way I see it, we can allways change it up as we go along, or possibly cut it a little shorter if needed. Either way, I just need to find a good time and location to meet you guys. I plan on being in the Boone area around 8am. I just hope the weather holds out. My daughter says they got some pretty heavy rain on sunday. We got a few good showers here as well.

Why we cutting it short if we just riding one day let's ride ALL day. If that's cool with you all if you don't want to ride all day you can cut off and go back to the house.
Sounds good to me. I thought it seemed like more people were backing out. If the weather holds, I am good for riding all day. 272 miles is quite a bit of riding for the mountains in one day, but as long as I can get back to Boone before it gets dark, I am good. Changing the oil in the bike right now.

Still on the fence.
Come on off the fence and head up to Boone. I just checked the weather forcast for the weekend. Low of 57, high of 75 and partly cloudy. That is about the best that you could ask for with the unpredictable mountain weather. Well, except for the "Sunny" that they are forcasting for sunday. Once you have made up your mind to come, which bike are you bringing? I am still leaning towards the M109, but I am getting a tire put on the zzr today. I should have just enough time to break it in before saturday. Really leaning towards just a leasurely ride on the 109 tho. Long as you guys wait on me before turning off the main roads:bigthumbsup:.
BTW, do we have a meeting place and time for saturday morning?

Why don't we meet somewhere in mountain city? Or better yet meet in Shady Valley country store. That's about the mid way point on the snake. It would be a straight shot for you coming from boone. Hit 421 and stay straight through mountain city.

I want to bring the 9 but right now it's apart waiting on another seal for the diff. I mucked up the last one somehow when I inserted the gear thru it.
We put 700 miles on the Strom last weekend and except for forgetting our rain gear we did good.
The 9's seat will almost put me in the hospital if I don't get regular breaks to walk around. I want to order a RDL for it when I get some extra cash but for now I ordered an Airhawk R and it looks good but havent tested it. If we bring the 9 (which I really want to) then I'm going to need to trailer it to Boone. On the other hand we will ride the Strom.
Let me discuss with Tina and I will let you know what we are doing.

Meeting in mountain city sounds good to me. About how far, and how long will it take to get to Mountain City from Boone? The only places that I know of right off hand are the Suzuki dealership on 421, and the store with the snake on it. I can meet at either place, but isn't that considered part of the snake on the way to that store? Either one is good for me, just keep in mind that it may take me a while to get there. Only ridden this road once on the bike and I am a follower and not a leader. I take things extra slow when I go it alone.
Rob, I know what you mean about the seat on the nine. I have to rest my bottom about every 60 miles whichever bike I ride. Just let me know which bike you will be on by thursday night so I will know what to load up. Hopefully it will be the nine. You can give me a call.

Boone to Mt. City is about 35-40 min and the Shady Valley Country Store (and it's snake) is about 25 minutes past that. Both are on 421 and therefore these times are assuming you don't get stuck behind an 18 wheeler or other slow moving vehicles.

If you want breakfast, get it in Boone as the pickings are mighty slim in the other two towns.

Good to see a little activity on this thread to keep us all in the know. My oldest daughter has had some hints of Labor even though her due date is not until Sep 17th. So there is an off chance that I could have to head over to NC if she goes into Labor with my 2nd grandchild. However, I don't think that is going to happen. How's the following work for everyone?

WHERE:
SCOTCHMAN #416 GAS STATION / BURGER KING
763 S SHADY ST, MOUNTAIN CITY, TN 37683

(423) 727-6491

WHEN:
SATURDAY 09/07/13 at 9:30 AM

Keith, this is where we all met up 2 years ago in Mountain City, it's on the right hand side as you drive into Mountain City right there on US421. Easy to find with plenty of room. I also met Tom (TN EER) at this location a couple of months back.

TOM - Do you want to meet up with us there or would you prefer we stop at the General Store in Shady Valley to meet up with you?

JED - You and I could meet up at the Dunkin Donuts / Shell Station right there by US321/I-26 if you want, and then ride together to Mountain City?
