This is really not about or part of the original story, but this gives you a great idea of the good ol' boys club that is coming to the surface and how far IMPD will go to cover up things.

An Indianapolis police officer is under investigation in connection with a hit-and-run crash.

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that a grand jury will be convened to investigate Officer Matthew Elam, who Indianapolis Public Safety Director Frank Straub confirmed was involved in a crash in his patrol car, 6News' Joanna Massee reported.

Sources told 6News that Elam may have tried to cover up the crash by having his patrol car fixed at a private garage.
When his squad car was later brought to the police garage for inspection, it was found to contain parts that were not in the department's inventory, the sources said.

Police would not comment on the investigation, confirm when the crash happened or say if Elam was on duty at the time.

They did say Elam has been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation.

On his Facebook page, Elam said he works the late shift in the downtown area and is a member of the SWAT team.

Attempts to contact Elam on Monday were unsuccessful.

what a disgusting bastard. he brings shame to wearing a badge.

i hope he and anyone that helped him get convicted to the fullest.

unfortunately, in this day and age, it is safe to assume that it won't happen. :verymad:
