I found it interesting that several of us have something in commond one was that several of our fathers rode Gold Wings, while we chose the 109 being younger I'm sure influenced this mostly, feeling the Need for speed while keeping the sporty look! so just for fun What does your Dad ride if he does and what color is his bike and yours? just for comparison  "Just how far did that apple fall from the tree" :D

Myself, 07 Red 109

My father thought motorcycle riders were all gang members and that only things motorcycles did would get you killed. When he went open wheeled it was on a:

Okay...I guess my dad's not as cool. :(

But...one of my older brothers is responsible for getting me into riding and I got the opportunity this year to ride to Washington, D.C. with the Run For The Wall group. My brother lives in Glen Burnie, MD and I joined him & his HOG chapter for a ride through Maryland to Fort Washington Harley Davidson on Saturday after arriving in DC.

Sunday, we rode down to the Pentagon where we participated in the Rolling Thunder ride this year. It was such a joy, honor, and thrill to finally ride beside my bro.

The first few pics here are of his bike (blue) and his wife's bike (1200 anniversary sporty). I call his a "motley davidson" as he picked & chose parts from all over & built it himself. His wife's brother did the paint job.

Couple of the others are from our bikes sitting together before a ride. And..finally one or two of him & his wife.

My Dad didn't ride. But, interestingly enough, I was just given '76 Gold Wing from a buddy of mine. Basketcase for rebulid. May be giving Hal a call for help and parts. So....my question is this.

I now own an '04 Marauder 800-black. Just aquired a '76 Gold Wing-Green/White. So......does that kinda make me my own Dad?

Good write up Guys Thanks for sharing your stories

I come from a long line of Bikers i guess,My Dad has over 20,000 miles on his 06 Gold Wing rides from Jacksonville to North Carolina all the time Visiting Family,we were talking the other day and he said he's had about 15 bikes so far,My grand father on my Dads side also rode till a drunk Driver hit Him crossing the Railroad tracks, when he came to he said his left Leg was up behind his head,Torn off just below the knee,His friends called him peg leg :D he had just a stub under his knee that a artificial leg slid on ,he was a great Grandfather ,also a shriner, road the Harley bikes like the Police bikes,He told me it happened for a reason he felt cause he was going to see another gal, and was about to leave my grand mother at the time, she told me after he pasted away that she had no Regrets cause she knew she took good care of my Grand father, she to has pasted away :(
It's funny sometimes the stuff that keeps people together, sometimes it takes a little more than just Love! Later Silentrider

My Dad never rode and passed away 19 years ago. I too am now the Dad and have the SIlver M109. My son, 19 rides a 2002 Yamaha R6.
Its great to be able to ride with him. We ski together a lot too which is awesome. He is a sponsored freeride skier and on the British Team too, so I always have to be pushing the limits when we ski  :super:

Unfortunately it gets to be the same on the bikes when we ride... Always start off saying " let's take it easy".... By the end of the ride we are both hanging off the side of our bikes around the twisties in the High Sierras!

Either way, the grins are permanent! :D

I gotta do it backwards...my son had a Kawasaki 1500 Vulcan, bought a Ultra Classic, black, gave me the Kaw after being off bikes for 12 or 13 years, then he got a second bike the 109,black,I rode it and went bannas, got a silver 109 for Father's Day from the wife.
Now we are going to get third bikes, probably a dual purpose Kawasaki 650 for off roading here in LV, Nevada.Haven't really decided yet,my dirt bike days were great but I'm a little long in the tooth for that now.

My Pops passed away last year RIP Poppy!! :doorag:  He rode a 1972 Honda cb750 which I still have in my garage. HE got me into riding by taking me along on rides from Reno to Carson City When I was just a pup. I was hooked! I've heard of a place in Florida that does restorations on these old bikes by turning them into choppers and such....Anyway, I ride a black '06 109 (faster than silver :D)
