while we are on the subject... i don't think we actually have floating rotors... saw else where on a diff thread that our rotors float.. i don't think so... they are held in place by a special "rivet"... experts plez jump in here....mjm

Those rivets are what is loose on mine. Parts are on backorder for at least a month. I thought about using a tack weld on each side of the rivet so I can ride. Don't know how safe that would be though, especially in the mountains.

a floating rotor has buttons that hold the rotor to the carrier and there is a spring tension type washer between the two. they are designed to move but not very easily by hand. it is supposed to allow for more even force of the brake pads on the rotor so that the trueness of the rotor/wheel does not affect braking performance as much as it would without the floating setup.
