Just turned 15,000 on my babe and I have been keeping an eye on the brakes well in the matter of a week the rear brake just evaporated. Decided I would order some online. Checked around for the best prices average price was about 81-120 dollars for front and rear plus shipping. Then I remembered about how all the dealers are all shutting down lately so I decided to go local and pick up some brakes.I've been dissapointed before at the prices but it kept me from going out of town or paying for shipping. Well I belly up to the counter ask for brake options and pricing and the kid said we only carry one brand of brakes here and I was like ok. I need the 2 sets for the front and 1 set for the rear.

I get some looks and a couple of glances back at the computer screen and the guy says. It's $185 for the rear and $220 for the front. I said I don't need rotors buddy just pads. He said this is for pads. I said no your wrong you must be looking at calipers or something else because that can't be right. So an older guy steps up and said look fella do you want the brake pads or not? I said yes but the price is not right. He's giving me the wrong price so the older guy pushes the kid out of the way and said this is correct. EBC rear pads $185 for the rear and $220 for the front 2 sets. We'll give you $10 off since you bought your bike here. So I said look I just want the pads I don't want them installed. It should be around $35 for the rear and about $55 for the front pads for both sets. The guy got real pissed and said you must have looked on e-bay for some BS price and I said buddy everybody is around the same price.I thought I would come in and give you some business but I am not going to let you bend me over the table and **** me. Kiss my *** and I am out of here. Anyway called another dealer while I was in New Orleans working today and I got the entire set for $122. Still high I thought but the guy was very polite and knowledgable about the bike which is very rare. My local dealer is like what's a Suzuki M109R I always have to say VZR1800.

Rant off.

Wow, I would have walked too. And really consider not going back again. My dealer usually gives me pretty good pricing because I've bought a few bikes there and referred several others. And once or twice a year they have an open house with 40% off parts and accessories, so I buy my maintenance items then.

I sure do Bernie, and I didn't know about that event. I just stopped in there last week and didn't see anything posted on it either, but I really wasn't looking.

I may just see you there. :D

I think I just found a "separated at birth" with the first two posters. LOL

Crazy story BTW. I wouldn't have believed it had it not happened to me more than a few times. Even crazier is that some people would have paid that!

wow...that's sad.
I paid 35 for the rear brake pads & they have the fronts for 60 for the set where I go. Yes, that's at a dealership and they're massively high on some things, but brakes seem to be normal price.

My guess is that someone in the shop where you were at entered the wrong part number and you were either getting quoted on rotors or calipers...

Dealer gone

My home town dealer had that "Do you want it or not" attitude too. He went out of business. Serves him right. Some people just don't get it, without customers you've got nothing.
You can't just pretend the internet doesn't exist and get mad if someone points out that it does. If you are going to carry inventory and charge higher prices for the convenience of having parts available now, just say so, don't be a jerk about it.

Stealers with 'Tude.

You blokes aren't alone when it comes to being treated with the ''Well,do you want it or not?'' attitude. It happens the world over. Here in OZ we get it all the time.We have a Harley dealer where I live, and they are SO BAD at that.I know people who have gone there to buy a bike, and end up walking out because of the attitude of these people. The prospective buyer will then drive 800 K's to the next city to buy their bike, then get the servicing done by an independent mechanic.I know a bloke who is a factory certified Suzuki mechanic who was working out of his shed at the back of his house(he specialises in the tuning/repair of the old school Japanese bikes, but does service all types/models of the big four)and recently had to move to a proper, much larger premises/workshop so he can keep up with the demand for his services. He and his business partner(certified Kawasaki mechanic) are flat out trying to keep up,but people who take their bikes to these blokes are told up front that they will NOT rush the work on any bike just to get it out the door.As far as I know, these two fellows have had no complaints about their quality of work.So in essence, these two lads are kicking the arses of the stealers big time when it comes to service.KEZZ.:bigthumbsup:
