Went into the local dealer [Yam/Kaw/Suz]
to inquire about trading in my 09 for a Kawy voyager
I like my 9 but I am old and need a more comfortable ride
They offered 6k on it ,the Voyager is about 17k [non ABS]
I really like the Kawy it has all options incl 6 speed and belt drive
My 09 is a 2006 model with 18k miles, has gel seat,bars,bags,
gipro, windshield it is about half of what I paid for it
no problems had the rear rotor replaced under warranty
new battery, and 2 new Metzlers.
Hard decision to make , can't afford both.

The voyagers and the goldwings are a great class of bike, especially when
riders get older and need the comfort. I think if you like it you should go for
it. My only advice is that you sell your aftermarket parts before trading the
109 in. Also I had ABS on my last bike and it was AWESOME ... consider
spending the extra $$ for it, you won't be disappointed.

If you have the stock parts to replace switch them out if not not a huge deal. Thats actually pretty good trade in and with the miles. I have seen 06's here in florida sell for 6 to 6500. So your getting close to what you would be selling it and without the hassel.

I think I still have the magazine artical on that voyager. Great bike, and I love the look. However, I will check, but I believe the msrp as tested with AbS was just over 17k. You might want to shop around a bit to see if that is a good deal or not. I would choice this over a wing any day.

I think that $6K trade-in is not a bad deal.

$17K for the new one is kind of high. Kawasaki City in Irving (Texas) has them for $14,249 and $15,249 w/ABS. Tell the dealer that you will take the $6K for the M109R but that you want them to price match Kawasaki City on the Voyager. They post their prices online so the dealer can even look them up.

Have you ridden the Kaw.? Have you thought of a C109? Definitely remove and sell as much as possible. The dealer is paying you squat for the extras. They figure on yr and miles if I am not wrong. Anything they can get for nothing just sweetens their pot.
I love my C109R. I have a herniated disc in my back and the forward lean angle was the only reason I didn't get an M109. It's still has plenty of power and is a very comfortable ride.

X2

I was once told by a bike mechanic...Harleys and Kawi's keep him in business....no idea if that still rings true with the new bikes....

If it were me...and it's not....but if it were, and when the time comes...it's going to be Goldwing all the way baby!...granted it does not have the V-twin look....but it has all the gadgets and buttons and gizmos to make me happy :joke:

I really don't care what ya ride, just keep the shiny side up!!

I've heard that the Kawi 1700's have a lot of technology on them, and therefore potentially more baffling for a non-professional, rider/mechanic to tackle, (like me). They sure are beautiful bikes though, and with a terrific exhaust note too. I know that some complain that the rear passenger area isn't large enough, that the Voyagers are underpowered, (a relative opinion,) and that they get worse gas mileage than the VN2000 riders are getting at 353cc's more displacement! Virtually all of the owner comments that I have read though generally run positive. Every bike has to have it's critics it seems.

As long as you're looking around, take a look at the Victory touring bikes. They have three now; Vision, Cross Roads, Cross Country and all have reviewed well.

That cross country is not bad at 17K and what it has.

I went and did it

I picked up my 010 Voyager, but decided to keep my 9
I couldn't let it go.
The Voyager is definately different all the features
6 speed, hydraulic clutch, cruise.radio, belt drive.
air suspension, bags ,trunk etc.
I got a good deal 16k out the door inc sales tax [7% in NJ]
destination charges etc.,
they were going to allow me 6 k for the 9.
The 9 is about 4 times faster the bike has a huge wind resistance
may have to get a lower windshield.
The mpg shown on the display shows max so far of 42.9
about the same as I averaged with the nine on an easy trip.
I was surprised at the sound of the exhaust, you can hear it
The fixed valance was easy to get used to , you can still see the forks
one bad note who ever rigged it didn't bolt on the the right side saddle bag and coming home at about 60 mph it flew off didn't break but sure
has a bad case of RR , they ordered a new one for it.
I wish the 2000 cc engine was available in it but Now I know how the
owners of the "other" bikes feel
You can't combine the features of both so that is why I decided to keep the 9.
For the money you can't beat ,Goldwings are about 7 or 8 k more
the airbag Wing is about 28k Harleys not considered
the c109 not all the features I was looking for, the Venture out of date
still has carbs same for the last 8 or more years.
just when I got the 9 paid for now back in debt.
