Rode with Rob (Nightfire) this weekend at OBX. I was checking out his Grasshopper backrest. Well.....me being the "why buy it when I can make it" (and cheapazz) guy I am I made my own.

The flat iron bars are only sandwiched between the seat bracket and seat. Just loosen the two nuts and it slides off. I added a black pleather fanny pack for a little storage. I even sewed the backrest pad together (after my wife showed me how to use the sewing machine8))

Thanks, I cut a 1X6 into the shape I wanted, covered the front in thick foam then wrapped the whole thing in thin foam. Made the cover from marine vinyl, two halves sewn together inside out.

The mounting is the same as my Custom World rest uses. I thought it would be kind of weak with just those two bolts supporting it, but it's very strong.

Now, why do you have a purse on your new backrest? :joke:

It's not a purse....it's a Murse:joke:. I'm trying to find a small roll bag. That's a black pleather fanny pack that I cut the straps off of. Good enough for now.

Dont Knock it , i can Carry all kinds of stuff in it , Night glasses , Geritol, Hearing aid batteries ,Stool sofener, heck, i could even carry a comb ,, if i had hair that is :bigthumbsup:
