When driving over small bumps, it sometimes feels like there is something loose on the bike, feel it mostly in my feet. I'm not sure where it is coming from and it is very subtle. Don't feel it if I hit a bigger bump and it isn't all the time. I checked everything that made sense and all bolts are tight. Had the dealer do the same at the first sevice. They didn't find anything. Since the service I can feel it more. I'm wondering if it could be the exhaust, my buddy says it appears to be mounted such that he can see it move when following me. Could it be the rear suspension spring? I tend to overthink and analyze every little sound, vibration, etc. Is that called paranoia? :)

Other issue is the throttle. The grip is very sloppy, lots of lateral movement, and it seems like the grip is too big for the bar diameter. Are there fixes for this?

As is mentioned all the time, I have really enjoyed this site. I don't post much but love reading everything on here!!!

I get the same sensation sometimes. I couldn't make sense of it, either. It isn't neccesarily on the roughest pavement or at a particular speed. Thanks for the info

I feel the same loose feeling as you have. I asked my dealer to ckeck it out when I had the first oil change. He said he couldn't duplicate it. It still does it on small bumps and seams on the streets. I can't find anything loose under the bike. I am ignoring it.

:a20: You are killing me Aussie!

Reminds me of that pic on the net where a guy writes on a filthy care with his finger and says "I wish my wife was this dirty"

I believe I know what you are feeling......Sit on the bike, engine off, squeeze the front brake while pushing the bike slightly forward. You want to compress the front shocks Feel for an area in the shock travel that feels like a bump. I think that is the looseness you feel while hitting slight bumps on the road. I have yet to take it to the dealer but I think my left shock is not working properly. Please let me know if yours does the same thing. JOHN

A friend of mine who runs a big tire conversion on his bike forewarned me that the bigger tires tend to talk to a rider differently. He was right, although cornering was a quick adjustment, the tires let you know about bumps, road seams, and other irregularities in a much different way than what I was used to.
I think this might account for some of the symptoms some of you are experiencing.

Thanks for all the replies. Makes me feel less paranoid. Any tips on the loose throttle grip? Is that normal?

Hold on guys....
Tonight my front fender almost fell off (started a thread)
It is missing the bolts on one side!!!!
and others were loose. I would check all of those hex screws.
Mine made noise only over stutter bumps.

Mine also feels like it has something loose. Somewere around the foot pegs or kick stand. It feels like a small thump. I thoughyt maybe it was the kickstand moving while hitting a bump. I just don't know???

I'm getting the same thing. Over RR tracks or sudden bumps at around 45 or so. I'm glad I'm not alone. Almost feels like ehaust is moving around too much. It's a little unnerving and makes me wonder if something will eventually be hanging off the bike. Doesn't do it all the time though. Weird.

As a BMW specialist..I can attest that bigger...widder tires have a tendancy to make you feel things you otherwise wouldn't . I drove an M5 last week
and ooohhh boy does that car have it the tune of 506 hp ....drives like a race car for 93,000 beans . ....now spend that on
a Lexus LS 430...completely different beast...suspension , tires , drive train ...all have a major difference in the feel you experience...but you feel every pebble
on the road in the M5...and going over a series of bumps has you"thinking" its going to fall apart.

From time to time we get people that come in and look at a 525i which costs 46-53,000 bucks and they think because the Honda Accord is
visually the same size and cost 15-20,000 bucks less it's a better deal...but drive is waaaaaaaay different. you feel more road in the Bimmer and the Accord
may be "smoother" but the driving experience comes at a cost.

Not to take anything from Honda...great car...heck I have an 2004 Acura TL.....soon to be BMW 530I

I am going to take my bike into the dealer and have them check to see what is loose. I know it is not the rear tire. I am sure it is something that is knocking when you hit a bump. Maybe the exhaust??
