On the shift peg to the right of the rubber there is rust already. Where the peg is welded to the lever there is a ring of rust. Will Suzuki replace it or just rechrome it? I don't get it, I don't ride in the rain, always blow off the bike after washing, and store the bike in my garage under a blanket. What gives?

Storing the bike under a blanket... could you be getting some condensation perhaps?

invest in a cover...blankets as stated on previous post hold in moisture and create condensation and much like my problem with black paint issues, I would not hold my breath waiting for Suzuki to replace your gear shift. ' They don't stay new forever"

They will replace it. It is way to much work to re-crome it.

Also chrome shouldn't rust. It was bad chroming. Don't worry it. They will order a new shift lever and install it when it arrives.
