I have the 2006 m109 with 16000 miles. If I cruise between 2000-2800 rpms the bike seems to crack up a little. It sounds like my old kz900 did when the plugs would load up. My stock exhaust is wide open and I did the dual k&n air cleaner mod with the cobra 2000 power commander. I also installed the timeing advance.
I never replaced the battery or spark plugs. Could this be causing the problems? I also have noticed a big decrease in gas millage.

You have a setup similar to mine, and I have mine on 2-4-3. The first pot controls the fuel in the range you're running at if you're cruising, the second adds fuel when you accelerate, and the third pot adds fuel across all rpm ranges. I have mine set so it puts out a little puff of black smoke if you hit it hard, which is from the second pot being just a little rich.
