Welcome to the board. Thanks for the numbers from the track. We all were wondering if the wheel would go sky high and you just answered that for us. Thanks.

Sounds like you had a high 11 in you no problem with a few more runs, with the right jockey it could be flirting with 10's dead stock.
Yep,,,agree there ...I said from the start it felt like a 11.70's 80's kinda bike....looks like now I gonna have to give it a shot at the track.... :D

You need to launch a bit harder and lower your 60ft times. Just for comparison, I run 1.72 60ft. / 7.72 @ 87 mph in the 1/8th on a VTX 1800 w/ 230lb rider (me). I just dynoed today @ 93.7 rwhp/112.70 rwtq. With your mph in the 1/8th, you should easily be in the low/mid 7's.

Good luck and yeah, I have had my VTX in the 12 o'clock position launching it at a sticky track.

I'm with you Bigbore, but high 11s seem about right.
For me, I don't do a lot of drag strip like hole shots on the street because old injuries make it too difficult to get my left foot on the peg quickly enough from a feet planted lauch. In the world I ride in though, this machine just wipes them out from almost any roll on .

I'm looking at your 1/8 mile times and then your 1/4 mile top speed and something is not adding up. ::) One of the guys on my V8 board just posted his 1/8 mile times and the bike he ran was .1 sec. faster than your time but his 1/8 mile speed was 131 mph. ::)

Just got back from Laughlin yesterday. I went down to the drags by the Avi resort hotel with some friends from California Boss Hoss on Saturday afternoon.

The Viper bike ran 7.7 seconds at 131 mph in the 1/8th mile. I ran 7.5 seconds at 138 mph. We both had Avon 300 tires.

The guys running the Avon 240 tires had some problems with keeping the bike straight. The 300 tire seems to lay a bigger contact patch and the bike goes straighter.

The Viper bike is a really nice piece of workmanship. It looks good in the pictures, but better in person.

As for me, I rode 250 miles accross the hot desert, set the best time at the drags during the week for a production motorcycle (I was later denied my $1,250 prize when they re-classified my BH as an "experimental" motorcycle), cruised around downtown with my lady on the back for a few hours, rode another 250 miles home in the hot sun and never so much as had a sputter from the engine.

These Boss Hosses are great bikes...

Those times seem pretty good to me and inline with what it should run.  If the Boss Hoss ran 131 mph in the 1/8th, then it should be deep in the 5 sec. 1/8th mile range on a perfect run.  I have to assume that it either spun hard or slipped the drive belt.  But 131 mph is a good indication of horsepower and that my friend is awesome.  I would expect it to run mid/high 150's in the 1/4 with that 1/8 mile speed.

Take care,

Teddy

I have one buddy that ran an 8.7 at 156 mph but that was with a small block and 100 hp shot. He weighs in over 300 lbs I bet so that's still pretty good for a brick. ;)

A little perspective: I've dragraced several of my old bikes, and to the best of my memory:

1992 VMAX 11.60
1987 Ninja 750 11.70
1990 CBR 1000 11.77
1987 GSX-R1100 11.29
1999 ZX-9R 10.77

I'm a decent rider, although my 60 ft times suffer as I never really liked abusing the clutch. All of the above bikes were modded and fast, so if our stock 109s get anywhere near uncorrected mid-11s with a novice rider, our bikes will be in good company. BTW, I've seen guys run 12s on older 750 sportbikes too if they weren't very good. I've only launched the 109 a couple times and it seems like a no-brainer to get off the line - assuming your holding on tight.

I've raced a few of my past and current bikes also..All were/are totally stock and I weigh 250 suited up.

1992 Vmax 11.34 @121 1/8th was 7.29 @ 97

1985 GV1200 Madura 12.10 @ 112 1/8th was 7.75 @ 93.2 in a strong headwind.

1982 Yamaha Turbo Seca only 13.98 @ 105.1 had a fuel regulator problem causing full fuel pressure off boost...Needless to say, it was loading up bad for the first 100 or so feet.

Although I don't own an M109R, I'm a big fan of it and if I hadn't just purchased a new Warrior, I  likely would have gotten a new Suzook.

When I decided to jump to a cruiser type bike I was looking at the Warrior, then the 109 was released. The Warrior has a lot of plus' s too.  :)

I just got out of Boot Camp in San Diego and used to walk up to the dealer and gush over the Seca Turbo. I was really trying to figure out how a 19 year old was going to afford it, and then ride it cross-country. Then out of nowhere, the Ninja 900 arrived...

By the way, my 92 VMAX time was 11.38, not 11.60. Pretty interesting, huh. It may have been stock at the time. I put on some supertrapp slipons at some point. That bike was easy to launch and was consistent. I have a pic of the front tire 8 inches off the track going past the stands. It did that every time.
