I can't figure out why Suzuki put that ugly, non-chrome round cover on the left side of the engine? It looks like it covers the end of the crank?

I want to take it off, have M109R milled into it and have it chromed. I have yet to get a repair/parts manual so I have no clue what is under the cover? Manual is on order. If I take the cover off, is it full of oil, needs a new gasket if removed etc.?

Is anyone making an aftermarket cover?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks, Rob

Nobody answered his other question.... Does removing that cover drain all the oil, and does it require a gasket to replace?

No, all that is for is to access the crank for adjusting your valves as near as I can tell. There is no oil in there.
That's another part we are working on. ::)
