The Zuki designed oil cooler is rather unique and very efficient! Passing the 50/50 anti-freeze mixture through the filter base is much more efficient than a air oil cooler and provides more even temperature control IMHO.
Do you need an oil cooler in British Columbia? Your probably better off not tapping into your system if you don't need to. I'm in Sarasota, Fl, gets pretty damn hot here all year and I havent needed one that I know of. I think you can do a couple of things to run cooler without an oil cooler. I use amsoil, I'm not sure but I think that helped a bit and I added a TFI to run the bike a little richer, that helps to. I also don't get the decel popping like it had stock.
