I took my 109 on (For me) an extended highway run to see my sister. She live in Illinois about 70 miles from me. Pretty much interstate.

Well, this black car came up on me and was a little too close for my comfort so I opened it up from 70-75 to 110 MPH to give me some distance. I then hit a section of highway where a third lane opened up so I slowed down to my regular speed and watched the black car go into that lane and continue to do about 90.

Much to my dismay, I looked over at him as he passed me..... OH OH it said sheriff on the side of the unmarked car!!! :cop: ::)

He must have been a hurry to get somewhere else because he did not even look over at me and kept going. Once he passed, I kicked it back up to 85. I did not want to waste a perfectly good escort! :D

I also have to agree with other members of this board, this bike likes to go 85-90 MPH all day. :doorag:

Cool, you are lucky!! Can you pass some of that in my direction? I'm currently fighting a 20 over ticket to help keep my record not so tainted! :redfaced:

Guys,

Maybe your right.  I guess I should either buy a lottery ticket or go to one of the casinos here in old STL. :redfaced:  :doorag:

:redfaced: I did the same thing last night on my way home from work, there was a car riding a little too close in my lane so I shot past (her; on the cell phone) and continued my speed, approx 90 mph, I could see lights on top of a ford f150, but figured it was a construction truck with the yellow warning lights, well that is until I noticed the state plates and the Trooper logo on the tail gate. then I noticed he was watching me pretty close in his rear view, and at the same time I also noticed that rear facing radar gun... I thought ooooooops. I am screwed seeing it was a posted 60 mph zone.. At the next light I pulled next to him, he gave me a know it all grin and continued on...

Ben: Aren't you here in Utah?? If you got away without a ticket from a UHP doing that kind of speed you are truly a lucky man! I'm guessing he must have been off duty or something.

Yeah, pretty lucky. Many places Sheriff's Deputies do not handle traffic in any shape or form. Where I live they never even ran radar up until a year or so ago, and even then, it was only a couple of them funded by the Governor's Highway Safety program. They pretty much just run the interstate and Bypasses looking for drug runners and such.

Hope I get that if I see a cop and I'm speeding. I bet your heart started beating double time when you saw the sheriff sign

When I lived "on the edge of the hurricans" in NC (think smallest town available) the Sheriff never gave any speeding tickets unless you were from out of state. They would arrest you for other stuff, but you VOTE for sheriff so they left the locals alone as long as you were only endangering yourself!. It was so remote the State troopers only came along once a week or so.

I spent 2 years playing Dukes of Hazard up there. YeeeeHaww!

No, quite the opposite. I just took a couple of deep breaths with a slow exhale and mentally focosed on a nice calming thought or two. Works real well! :doorag:
