If any one has the maintenance manual look in the wiring manual for a gear position switch or neutral switch. Find out what wires are going to the ECU , I believe there is a discrete ( ground ) that comes from the switch that lets the ECU know when it is in 5th gear. Suzuki has done this on the Gsxr motorcycles in the past. They also tend to have a discrete to retard ignition timing in the first couple of gears to make power smooth in the lower gears or keep it from wheeling on the GSXR motor cycles.

You beat me to this 8) I was just fixing to post the same thing.I need someone to post where or what color wires, the gps ( gear position sensor ) are. All we need to do is find the different values for each gear and then get a 5 cent resister and whamo no speedlimiter and possably advanced timing in the first few gears :D Very common Mod on sportbikes. There know as TRE,S But really all they are is a 5 cent resister but they sell them like they make the bike more ridable and smoother faster e.c.t and derestrict the bikes top end all of which are true but it ain't all that tuff to do :bigthumbsup: It gets old having that thing cut on and off in 5th gear all the time :verymad:
Exactly, I had the TRE on my GSXR 1000. If no one steps up with the mantenance manual I am gonna see if the dealer ship will let me have a look in there manual.

Thanks for the info but I need the actual wiring schematics usually in the back of the book.

ALL WE NEED TO KNOW IS WHAT COLOR OF WIRES AND WHAT PIN #S THEY GO TO ON THE ECU FROM THE GEAR POSITION SENSOR.

Alright - since this is something I'd like to see as well, you compelled me take the seal off my service manual... ;)

The gear position swith has 3 wires. On the harness side of the connector (they are different colors on the GPS side) there is:

  • Blue - which routes to side-stand relay and ECM
  • Pink - which connects direct to ECM
  • Black - which branches into 4 Black-white connections going into ECM. Doesn't give pin-outs for the ECM connections, though...

J

* Edit*
A quick cross-refence (as I learn to use the manual ::) ) shows the Pink is the only direct ECM connection and it is on pin 23. The Black ties to chassis ground, as do the Black-white wiring on pins 34, 66, 67 that the simple line wire diagram showed as branching... Hope that makes sense.

THANKS A BUNCH I will figure out the resistance values and have a answer within the next day.

Let us know what you figure out. This would be a good how-to post on the new "child of tech board" Lamont added once
we you get it wired down.

Lamonster - if you can scan it, there is also a page under the FI section with a more detailed break-out of the valve control. I don't remember the page number, but it is under the trouble-shooting section for the valve and shows pin connections for ECM, etc.
