Just got rid of that huge snowshovel on the rear that hides that big ol' tire. Now I'm stuck.. any ideas on what type of light I should use to illuminate the license plate? Any and all opinions will be greatly appreciated.
There are a few options: Kuryakyn makes a license plate LED Bolt, but alot of guys have had problems with them. Custom Dynamics has a different version of them and they are very nice. The least expensive way is to use a 4 pod LED cluster about $15 and wire it up. Another option is to get a lighted plate. Below are some links you can check out for yourself:
On the above link you will see a license plate that has built in LED's and at the bottom of the page are their LED bolts. If you are interested in either of them, PM me. I bought both of these and then went another way. I would let them go very reasonably if you are interested.
The other option is the LED 4 pod light: Here is a link to our sponsors site for that light:
I don't have pics so please no THIS THREAD IS USELESS WITHOUT PICS! comments. But I relocated my plate to a sidemount and simply bought a chrome licence plate frame from J&P Cycles that has a built in plate light. I just took the stock plate light wire and wired it to the new frame. Looks good and only costs $49.00. I'll try to get a pic on here, but in the meantime you could go to the website - WWW.JPCYCLES.COM and find it as well. Worked out well and doesn't have a bulky brake light or external light attached.
