Mods for the bike

I am looking for exhaust and KN filter or airbox mods. I don't want to buy the first stuff out for sale in case they are just trying to get a jump on other suppliers and the stuff doesn't work. I was also looking at putting the 280 rear tire and a power commander.

Its gonna be interesting to see what stuff starts to become available first. I know Cobra and Baron had a early look at the bike since they built the customs for Suzuki to display around the country.

I'm looking to do the same mods. Right now I would like to do something with the bars. They look cool but they are not that great after a 140 miles or so. :-\

Still love my VTX's but just needed a little bit of new excitement in my life. I will be at Lamont's on Wednesday and hope the weather is good so that we can take a good ride.
The bars look cool but I too would like them back about 1-2 inches.
They are fine around town, but on the road they are tiring.
On a recent run in the country (just have to rack up first break-in miles) I fount that I could ride holding right grip with my fingertips and left hand on my lap. It's soooo smooth!

Tried some cheapo small black LED's to replace my damaged one and wife who was following me (is this henpacking?) said she could hardley see them.
Think I'll settle on some Kuryakin Bullets oin back and maybe in front too.

I was riding yesterday and I started to get the vision where I want to take this bike without dumping too much money into it. Right now I'm thinking a Superhub with a 300 tire and some one piece dragbars that pull me back about 1.5" or so. I'm also thinking about some hotrod type pipes for it too and a paint job that is simple but makes a statement. Give me a little time and I think you guys are going to like what you see. This should still be a good 200-300 mile a day bike when we're done. 8)

Why only a 200-300 mile per day bike? Why not 400, 500 or more?

If I want to take a long ride (600 to 700 miles a day) I'll take the Boss Hoss. I'm not saying you couldn't do longer days on it but I won't be doing longer days on it, it just not the right bike for that for me. I like a backrest, bars that are wider and pullback more and some sort of bags or storeage. I think the 109 is more of a sportbike than a real cruiser when it comes to long range comfort. But then again I'm starting to get old. ;)

Aren't we all. I can't begin to get all of my titanium pieces to cooperate to ride a lot of the new iron (both street and dirt) that I'd like to play on.

I'd like to have the bars back about 2 inches myself. The cables and wires already look pretty tight though. If new cables and wires are required it might get a little complicated.

Jardine is coming out with brackets for a sissy bar, I have one on order. Any Jardine backrest will work once the brackets are installed. I also have saddle bag brackets (also on backorder :() on order.
Has anyone heard if someone will be offering a back rest and rack that can be installed for the rider? I will not have a passenger for some time and would rather keep the single seat look... BUT I want a backrest, and NEED some sort of rack to carry a small bag. If I have to put the passenger seat on and put everything behid it I will, but I would rather keep it looking sportier.. Like a coup VS a sedan

After the left side air filter became soaked with oil from the dealer overfill, I decided to try out an air filter modification. I used a long craft type razor knife, the type where you can break off small pieces as the blade dulls. Anyway, I cut the paper element as close to the side of the plastic housing as possible and removed all of the paper filter. I had an old K&N laying around so I cut and fitted a piece in place of the paper element and reinstalled the whole shebang. I also did the other side. Since the engine is getting more air the perormance improved, but since I am still within the 3500 rpm break in time, I have not been able to open it up. Also an old trick is to ise a one inch hole saw drill bit and put an extra hole in the air cleaner box so she pulls in more air.
Kwcrawler,

I had a phone conversation with Cobra about some forwards today and they said they are releasing new pipes around the middle to end of May for the 109 specifically. I followed up with calls to Baron, Jardine and Kuryakyn and they all said they have nothing yet. Neither would they say if anything was in the works.

How tall are you . I'm 5'9" and I don't think I could go much more forward and still use the controls.

BTW Even with the bars raised I'd still like an inch or two more back on the bars. It is much better though :D.
6'5" I have a 38" inseam I need to stretch out a little. I like the handle bars were they are at I can sit straight up with a slight bend in my arms.
