It seem that we have a lot of people with very low posts trying to sell on the board and the communications are not very fast or consistent. I know i have rplied and been the first and was either told they were sold or never responded to. Not trying to start any crap but and a member of several boards (guns) and they do not even allow you to see or post anything for sale until you have 20 posts in the board. Like I said not trying to start a :edit: storm, just get frustrated when trying to buy and there seems to be a problem. What do you guys think?????

What would be a reasonable post count? 20 posts is not hard to do in the off topic area...

:agree: I'm not sure I'd be willing to buy something from someone who's only posts were in the 4sale section

Why not use common sense?? someone is selling a high price item and has barely any posts, be the first in the tread with "PM SENT"!! only means "at your own risk", use your judgment.
I dont know what a minimum of 20 posts here would make any difference..."bump" and "thumbs up" posts are here by the thousands...
To me, someone that I know (online/offline)vouching for the new guy would inspire more of a trust.

Most boards I'm on have a minimum post count for the For Sale section too. It's usually 50 posts or so. And there are rules on post whoring to get there.

I use common sense on here. If someone's first post is something in the for sale section, someone else can have it. Whatever it is I don't need it bad enough to get burned.

Lets face is if somebody wants to :edit:ck you then they are going to regardless of the number of post. Having said that I was :edit:ed by a guy will 11ish post and hasn't been on in a long time. Better judgment does play into but I emailed this guy xchanged numbers and up to the day I paypal he would respond or answer. The day I sent the money all that ended. My point.. lost post could be a way to monitor but if they really want to they will screw you with 450 post..IMO

It is just as disconcerting when it is the guy's LAST post too, problem is figuring which is the last one...

I sold a stick 240 tire on a Vrod forum and I could not post up until I had been registered for 30 days. But it is a buyer beware situation. If it was a big ticket item, I would just ask a fellow member that I knew that lived close and see if they could check it out and have them buy it and ship it to me. Better to be safe the sorry. You could also ask the person to send it COD and inspect it.

:agree: that is why "buyer beware". just be careful and try to protect yourself by using payment methods that offer you some sort of protection.

I have been a member on this site for nearly 2 years now and have only about 25 posts. I don't always have much to say to justify a post, but help out when I can. So I don't know if a post minimum is really the answer. I agree that it would weed out most of them that you are talking about, but then it might make some other legit members suffer. Just my 2 cents...

30 days or 50 posts which ever comes first ?

buying online from individuals is always some what of a risk

I think this is why criags list does so well, you buy close and go in person
w/ ccw and cash

posts or time limits will keep alot of the "just here to sale something" at a minimum, alot of the people in this boat wont come back to check replies

Another board Im on uses a rating system under the 4 sale section. When you see someone post, there is a little number that shows up next to their name and it lets you know how other people have rated him as a seller in the past.
