I have 5000kms on my Metzeler 880's (240 rear). The back has about 1000km's left. I am a hard rider and our chip roads are hard on tires.

Most of the riding is one up. I have been running 38psi front and 42 rear one up and 40f 44r when two up. These pressures were from advice from the local Metzeler rep and I use my own gauge to be accurate.

I found this website after a 950km trip two up (with lots of gear) resulted in bad wear and a flat rear tire after some road works. (have had to plug it to limp home and will buy a new tire before the next ride)

Recommended Minimum Tire Pressures (PSI)
ME880 Solo 2 Up Light 2 Up Heavy
Front 38-40 40-42 40-42
Rear 44-46 46-48 48-50

Q = Has anyone experimented with these pressures? The 48-50 seems very high.

I love my Metzelers but the rear costs $500nz and front $300nz. I know there is no substitute for stick but at $800 every $6000km's its a bit heavy. Can't get over the low prices of tires in the US. Unfortunately it costs too much to ship them here.

Looking for any advice to get more KM's from my tires.
