One of the members here went down today while on a group ride, bjmcgaha (Barry)hit a huge pot hole and low sided his ride today. He is OK, just bruised and sore...can't say the same for his 9. He was wearing his gear and a full face helmet..as soon as his insurance kicks in he'll be back on the road..keep him in your thoughts & prayers

Could Be Worse

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers. Im doing fine. My hip is brusied and sore but able to walk around and do stuff. My ego on the other hand is still hurtin. Im just glad I didnt have my daughter or my girlfriend on the back with me.

Heres what happened: I was riding on a charity ride to help support the community where I live. We took a road that we really shouldnt have been on with bikes. It is an old country road that is not maintained at all. I guess there were many potholes due to the snow this winter. I was being very cautious and still went down. I was heading into a right hand curve probly doing around 35mph. While I was in the curve, I ran up on a 3.5 foot round pothole. It wasnt very deep. By the time I saw it, I was in it. Not certain what happened but think that my right peg caught in the pothole and spun the back end around. It all happened so fast, but the guy behind me said that my back tire shot around in front very fast. The other riders did not have any problems in that curve but I was the only 9 in the ride.

Lessons Learned: First of all is to stay off roads like that, even if I have to turn around. Second, my gear saved my shoulder from being ate up. I love to ride in T shirt but need to rethink that. My daughter will not get back on until i get her better gear to wear! The worst part or maybe the best part is that i just bought a M109 padded jacket and wore it for the first time yesterday. Finally, I got good friends that really just meet me that have helped me out alot with the bike and checking on me. Thanks Curtis and Mike.

I'm glad your not hurt too bad and sorry about the bike. I am guilty of riding in the summer in a tee shirt because it's so dang hot but I do think of grinding the hide off, that textile jacket is not sounding too bad, good luck with the bike.

Boy, I'm glad you're alright!! Nothing like a surprise accident to cause reflection on how we all ride sometimes. Anything can happen at any time.
I have a question....Was your bike lowered??
