I have been feeling the same way. I have had my 9 since 2008. I love the bike but every time I take my bike to the mountains I wish I had a lighter more nimble bike. I have been eyeing the Concours for awhile. I test drove one last year and thought I would like it but I thought I would miss the distinct feeling of torque between the gears. I may have to look for a low mileage Concourse to keep as a second ride.

i picked up a 2008 kaw c14 with only 5000 miles on her,its a dream to ride.
i actually put more miles on th ekaw the the 9 this summer.i guess i have come to reliaze in my years a bike with bags to carry your stuff is almost usless.
dont get me wrong i have 28k on my 9 and it turns heads every day i take her out and yes the gas stations stayed the same all that time "hey what kind of bike is that"
sport cruiser with heated grips adjustable windshiled and a saddle you can ride most of the day....priceless....good luck with your search for the second bike:bigthumbsup:

Is the Connie fun to ride and have the grin factor?
i know it's comfortable etc, but does it have the fun factor?

Curious to know your opinion

I agree with the previous posters that say to consider keeping the nine and getting a second bike. I have a nine set up for traveling with the corbin bags and fairing, and a zzr1200 that is for the sporting side of me. It also has corbin bags, so it is great for longer rides as well. I sometimes miss the trimmed down look of the nine without the extras, but when you need storage, it is well worth it. I have thought about getting rid of the zzr and picking up another nine that I can ride for shorter trips with no luggage or fairing. I like the zzr, but a stripped down nine is nimble enough for my riding style right now.
I had a ZZR1200 before I got my M109 and I really miss it sometimes. But I know that I made a good decision (Wife made me do it)...

i believe it is......its light very responsive, all I can say is go ride one,i never thought it would be a bike for me.the 9 is a great bike and great cruiser no doubt.
I ride with a few different riders and even had rides with a few of the guys from the concours group and I can say yes is does have a grin factor.
the suspension and swing arm configuration is the best out there.i do all my own work and besides dealing with some of the plastic faring parts its a easy bike to maintain.

Ok, will test ride one on Saturday.
Does look like a boring bike though lol

9 is a nice bike and I am not sure why you feel that it will fall apart only after a few years of riding..

I had mine since spring of 2008 and it runs strong even though I commute on it downtown and around GTA almost daily.
Aside from oil changes (which I do twice as often because of commute), motor mounts, usual inspection and general maintenance I do not see much that needs to be done to this bike.
Perhaps cosmetics from bunch of scratches usually obtained during camping rides and touring trips.

Runs great, feels strong, looks better than any other.
Passenger wise it's not the worst but definitely far from the best.

Hence no one suggested this thus far: get the new F6B wing!

Much better handling than the 9, lots of power, definitely can tour and run twistiest, last but not least - better for your passengers.

The only bike I could think of leaving my 9 for would be an Italian. Specifically the Ducati Streetfighter S. The biggest issue with any Italian bike would be the amount of "love" those bike require to keep running. Gorgeous and high maintenance, just like any other hot Italian 8)

I would have bought that Triumph if it was in stock at the store I bought my 9 at. I am very happy with my 9 and its a lot easier to handle than those Triumph's; as far as the height. The only other bike I would have bought if they were still making them is this beauty:

Like many others have pointed out, when getting away from the 9 there are not many bikes out there that can match her power . I traded my 9 in on a Victory Cross Country (base). Comparing the xc to the 9 I gained comfort, storage and better fuel economy.

I drove up and met up with Lowkey on saturday and had a blast (little under 80 miles 1 way) the xc handles highway speeds so much better then the 9 did the ride is way better to from a comfort stand point. Floor boards vrs pegs. My xc has an air ride stock the bike floats like a cadillac.

The power difference is not too bad the XC has comparible torque there are mods you can do to the XC that can get the HP up close to the 9, but I don't think it would ever be as powerful.

Hey Guys,

Wow, so the new 2014 M109R's coming out..and its just more of black and some other color paint. I've been waiting patiently for something new to come out from Suzuki... As you can tell I've been a member since 2006, and I'm not saying I'm BORED of my M109R but there are a few things lacking that I'd like to get taken care of on this bike... Probably wont get them thought... would love a 6 speed transmission, better brakes, suspension, hydraulic clutch ETC...

I noticed a lot of members swithing their bikes for Kawasaki Concours's, Goldwing F6Bs and a few other types of bikes... After you own an M109, how can you go back to some other "Boring" bike? Not boring as they can't go fast, but the M109R is a hell of a good looking and high performance bike... there really isn't another cruiser out there that is like it... But I find myself wanting something a little more adventurous, and also has the ability to carry my wife on the back easily...

What bikes make for a good upgrade over the M109R? I don't think im ready for a Concourse or Goldwing yet... I've always wanted to add a Hayabusa (2008 and above model) to my garage, their prices are dropping like mad for used ones...

The only bike I can think of that I think I would sell my M109R for is a Triumph Rocket III Roadster... HUGE power, cool looking and sounds like a beast when you gas it... What other suggestions can you recommend? My 9 is getting up there in mileage and I want to either keep it till a new type of 9 comes out (if it ever does) or just sell it to find something new and exciting again...

I had one of the original m109r's it looks like suzuki stopped caring.. Just look at the Hayabusa...still the same looking bike...They need to wake up soon.

Lots of manufacturers have an extended, unchanged run of their bikes. Look at the 1st generation VMax - about a 20 year run. Some might say "Don't fix it if it's not broken."
What year is yours?

True though there are fewer and fewer players in this segment. Yamaha's entire lineup gone, Harley lost a lot of their cool stuff like the V-Rod and the rest is pretty same ole. Sporters S is pretty cool looking.

I think an update 9, with only small styling changes but more modern innards could definitely do well.
