Hey Fellow 9ers 8)

I see so many bikes with the rear cowl on so that the bike looks like a solo rider only, but then the rear pegs have been left on!!
Just wondering why this is, when it only takes another 2 minutes to remove or replace the pegs.
Whats your reasoning behind it ?? Just curious :doorag:

Bigeh..

I for one leave mine on when I have the solo setup as I am a member of the patriot guard riders and when doing a funeral escort it is customary to put the rear pegs down as a sign of honor and respect. (like putting empty boots into the stirups of the saddle for the funeral procession)

Also because they (mine) are chrome and don't detract from the look when folded up when I just have the solo setup going...

I have the pegs on only because I ride 2 up sometimes and never know when I might get lucky!! Seriously, just easier to keep them on for when I do ride 2 up. Less to keep up with.

My wife doesn't ride so I took mine off to clean up the look. It made the wife happy when I ttok them off also, no chance of guest rides!:'(

Mine are off unless I know I will be riding 2 up with one of my daughters. Having the cowl on and the rear pegs off, I think it makes my wife feel a little more at ease that I am not using my 9 as a pink taco magnet.

never really bothered me to leave them on. i have also had my rear footpeg and rear footpeg brackets chromed to add more shine to the bike. it's kind of hard to see, but i have also added some additional customizing underneath the rear pegs themselves. i have "M109R" plates on the bottom of the pegs that add a subtle little detail to them.

I'll leave mine off all the same!

Thanks.

I'd rather not have them, than have that additional chrome to polish.

So fare it seems what i thought is about right!

Some have customized them so they are a feature

Some have not giving it any thought until they read my thread.

And the others are just too LAZY to pull them off and then put them back on :D:joke:

It's been good so far hearing the different reasons.

For me i have to fit the back rest every time some one gets on my bike,(for some reason they wont get on my bike without the back rest:evil:) so to fit the pegs at the same time is no big deal.

I'm with JAY G, My wife rides her own bike. But my daughter is 13 and loves for me to pick her up from school, she also like to go for short rides with us, especially if we are going for a lunch ride after church .

I polished mine but I never really thought about removing them. My wife rides her own bike too so they never get used. I might remove them this weekend, then I can lose the spring and ball out of them.

Hmmm I wonder why Bigeh . Maybe because your 9 makes ungodly amounts of power and is capable of cracking off LOW 10 sec 1/4 mile passes. I am pretty sure that if the ladies actually knew how fast and powerful your 9 is they might not even want to ride. Your bike is crazy fast and I wish had the resources to do a similar setup on mine. What kind of mpg do you get with that setup anyway?
