I just got a K&N air filter today, i have not installed it yet. i also got my ducks cover coming in, they should be in tomorrow or monday at the latest. Anyway what i wanted to know is there really a big difference in the stock Vs the K&N filter? Has anyone done any testing? I figured before i install i would run the 9 at maybe 3 1/2 - 4rpm in 2nd, 3rd, and 4rth and shoot the coals to her and see what it does. Then come back and put the K&N air filters in and do the same. Then come back and put the ducks air covers on and do it. So what you guys think? Do you think there is a big difference????:dontknow:???

Some where here there was a thread that had a modded motor and when he put on the ducks it picked up like 10 hp. But that was Modded. Don't think a stock motor would do that much change. But it shows just restricted the intake tract is.Oh yeah Hink has it. Make that 8 hp

You are incorrect. It was NOT a modded motor. Stock motor, and dyno sheets provided in above reply.

REALLY?? That is the first question answered in that thread... Yes you do. FI2000r is the easiest IMO.

Make sure you get the FI2000R! Don't be fooled by one that is cheaper. If it doesn't have a "R" on the end, it is not a plug and play. It must be soldered in place!

Q: When do I need fuel management?
A: When you change both your pipe, and intake. This includes "Ducks Mod", and modifying the stock exhaust, in any way. Some report that the bike runs better with fuel management, even when completely stock, but you need it when you modify both intakes (not including just K&N filters), and exhaust. You can safely run your bike without fuel management, if you only change one, or the other."

i have the scoripion tips, duvks mod, gipro, and k&n filters on mine now. i would strongly suggest that you get a fuel management system. when i installed the scoripion tips alone i could tell a difference in how much leaner the bike was. once i installed the PCIII and inserted a custom map, it leveled off the idle and eliminated decel popping and ran strong.

in my opinion the K&N's make no difference when using the stock covers alone. but combined with the ducks mod (and how much of the stock air over has been opened up) you should see a difference in the HP and TQ numbers when on a dyno.

Back when the K&N's came out, either Hal or Lamont dyno tested them and got a 5 hp increase just installing them in the stock boxes. No other mods or additional tuning.
