Things you need
VHT night shades
Good Clear coat
Tape
Sandpaper 500,800,1000,1200,1500,2000 you will not use all of these but if you have them that would be nice..
Sanding sponges can work well too if you have them
Rubbing Alcoholic to clean after sanding or Acetone
Tape off what you do not want paint on.
Sand everything with 500 grit to get rid of the shine on the lenses or Tail light. I sanded the lettering off the lenses with 220 and then sanded with 400 and 500.
wash off then clean with the rubbing alcohol
Ok now the part you will need patience
or you will be
because you will have to re-sand if you go to heavy it will spider and crack (now ask me how I know this
)
In a clean contaminate free with plenty of fresh air this stuff is strong please do not do this in a closed area spray a very very very light coat on then wait about 5 min and do this until you achieve the darkness you want
You can spray a little more on the 3rd coat then the 1st but not much this stuff is thin
Wait 24 hours and give a very lite 1000 to 1200 grit sanding about 2 min to do this.. this will smooth everthing out wash and clean with alcohlal (do not sand to hard or you will burn trough and need to re-sand you can not touch up a burn trough and get it right)
Now you are ready for clear coat same rules here very very light first coat then in about 10 min 2nd coat and a 3rd coat the 3rd coat you need to go semi heavy this is your wet coat it should look like glass
Well now you are done well maybe depends on you and how good you did the clear coat..
You might want a more professorial finish to get this you will need to wait a week for the cleat coat to completely cure then sand with with 1500 grit and 2000 grit then with a D/A buffer or even a variable speed drill and a good compound and bonnet buff the clear and then wax do not use same bonnet for wax.. Just go slow or again you will burn through the clear coat especially on the edges
I spend about 20 bucks on this because I had everything except the paint
I went to dark on these for my taste I originally thought I wanted dark but after I put them on I think its too much it does not block the light too much
I like the level of darkness here much better I still need to sand the clear and buff
