Why not just build a raft and put the paddle tire on the rear? :joke:

Man that is a TON of effort. Is there not a mechanic who can do it where you are?

I was just thinking the same thing. What was wrong with it? I'm sure a member of the site could have helped him out.:dontknow:
I think I remember him posting up that he has lost 2nd gear. And that is a lot of work to do that. I hope that he is not shipping it over for an oil change. :joke:

That's a heck of a lot of effort to go through just to get to a good dealer. Wouldn't it be easier to just buy a boat and haul it over? :D

:agree: But it is still under warrantee for another 3 months! 2 year extended...after the 1 year. This is the second time 2nd gear left and it does cost thousands to fix. Last time they replaced 1st through 4th. The extended warrantee folks suggested sending it to OAhu because they know of Maui's limited talents...LOL. I don't have time to tare it apart flying to OAhu daily myself for work...and golfing and scuba and beaches on the weekend!!!:joke:
P.S. ...and it totals about $150.00 to ship...not too bad really!
P.S.S.....and this is my first motorcycle...EVER...not like working on my old snowmobiles in Minnesota!

Dang, Cubans have already found a way to make a VW Beetle into submarines to make it to Miami, yet you cannot add wings to a thing that already flies to jump the 3-mile distance between the Hawaiian Islands? Did you have to go thru the same process to get her "debadged"? :joke:

Seems like an awful lot, nevertheless, Good luck with getting her fixed before your warrantee expires.

We used to have the SuperFerry out here, but politics and such forced it out. Shipping in a container is pretty much the only option, unless you know someone with a boat willing to make the trip.

Travis and his crew will take good care of you 9'er.

PM me when they get it done, bro. We'll take a spin before you ship it back.

Guess it's pretty rough living in Maui. Sounds like you ought to start up a bike shop and put the crappy one out of business. That would be a pain though.

Glad to see your bike is finally getting fixed. Make sure they use the new 08-09 part. It has a new part number and BP mentioned it might be a little stronger. Is there anyway they can back cut the gears while it is apart?

Hopefully this time it will hold together better. So when that park opens. I'm assuming we all get free tickets and flights down to go to the grand opening...:D

you could have just flew me out.:p Sometimes dealers will hire motorcycle shops to help work on bikes if the dealer gets to busy. Maybe that could be an option. It does sound like the cost isnt to high, hopefully nothing happens while being shipped.

I hope everything works out for you.

The price to live in Paradise. Can't believe that the bike is STILL down from when you broke on our ride in October.
Hopefully you'll be in shape to ride on our next trip out.
You'll have to keep the bike where your working now and ride circles on that island for a while! Maybe switch things up and ride counter clockwise!

GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND!!!

Your little project on Oahu looks great! I may have to spend a day there on the next trip just to see your work.

I was astounded!!!! I asked "even second gear??" they said no....no time to fix! AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!
