Hello! Im Dave from CT. I love Suzuki and I’m picking up my new blue 2023 M109R this Friday. The dealer is receiving the crate and assembling the bike on Thursday. I am super excited. Im not a newbie to bikes. I do all of the work and maintenance myself. Ive had lots of bikes but currently have 2008 gsxr600 dedicated track bike, 2017 gsxr1000 mostly street some track, and a 2008 boulevard C50T limited edition. I mostly ride at the track doing at least 15 days per year but I’m looking forward to more street riding this year. Looking forward to being here and learning more!

On a good note I rode the bike for 10 miles today and I love it. It is just amazing. I did not get on it too hard because it was quite cold out today but it’s smooth, powerful, comfortable, and handles as I expected!

The owner has been good so far but im quite worried.
I would be too.
I would want a different bike. Who knows what else is scratched, damaged, or missing on this one, that you won't find until you do some work on it.
That's just my personal opinion.

Yeah I hear you. They did say they would get the parts when I was picking the bike up. I did go through it pretty thoroughly already. It was a little low on motor oil. All the bolts were tightened up and I removed the reflectors and passenger pegs. I was in love with the bike and I can be impulsive. It’ll be fine in the end.

Be careful about overfilling the oil. If you do, it will come out of the left air filter housing and ruin your air filters. You'll need to clean the airbox, too.
Here is the official check procedure:
Thanks for that. I cant wait to get my owners manual and my service manual. Thats pretty close to what I did but the engine had probably cooled down more than that but not cold. The oil did not reach the dipstick when I checked but I’ll be checking it properly before riding anymore. I thought the gear oil might be low too but i left that alone. I found a place to download the owners manuals. I should have done that. Thanks for the help.

Here's a link to an '08 Owner's manual. I don't think they have changed.
I have a bunch of M109-related docs on the pages linked in my signature.

Pictures are in the first page of this thread, the blue with black trim. Welcome to the forum too.
The plot thickens. The dealer is something else. Anyway Im just too mad to keep bringing things up. The bike is great and Ill get it squared away.
Has anyone done a kaoko throttle lock on the m109? I had one on a yamaha and loved it. I have a beakeaway on my c50 and its nice too.
I've never heard of the kaoko, but a lot on here have used the Brakeaway. If you've been around bikes a long time you might remember the old bikes had a little knob under the throttle housing that you can turn in and out to adjust the tension on the throttle, or to hold it in place. I added one of those to mine for a no cost throttle lock. If I want to use it, I can reach it with my thumb and turn it enough to either hold the throttle or add just enough pressure on it to make it a little easier to hold.

I also have an electronic cruise control somewhere, but I've never installed it. It's a generic kit they sold for cars that folks figured out how to adapt to bikes. I took the control pod out of the package and weatherproofed it, and I can't remember where I put it.

The kaoko is actually a very nice piece and works well. It looks cheap in pictures but its really nice. I also see the mc cruise electronic cruise control. Here a guy put it on a gsxr1000.
Its pricey though. Anybody done that one on the M109?
I installed the Breakaway on mine. Very nice for a throttle lock. I'm spoiled by the cruise control on my FJR1300, however.
Hi all. Figured I’d update. When I got the bike home I noticed scratches on the front rim too. Cross threaded fender bolts that I had to retap and the radiator cover was not snapped in properly. Dealer was brushing me off so I contacted suzuki. Now Suzuki has pictures and are “determining fault”. Once they do that, they will decide how to proceed. The dealer should have just been honest and taken my offer to just give me the parts. Now they are going to end up buying me a rim in addition to all the parts and Suzuki wants them to do all the labor too. (Not sure how I feel about that right now). Just goes to show they should have just be honest and fair. Still a great bike and I don't regret it. Ill get it right.

Wow, the tires are already mounted when they get the bike, so I'm not sure how they managed to scratch the rim too. It's almost like they deliberately tried to screw the bike up. Good luck with Suzuki, I'm glad you contacted them. It will be interesting to see how that goes.

It seems like Suzuki is trying to take care of it and they know who the shitty dealers are but they sell bikes so they are trying to work with them. I saw a you tube video of someone uncrating an m109r and on that bike the wheel, fender, and handlebars needed to be put on. I don’t know how old that bike was and it could be different now.
Just a thought, Did the bike come direct from Suzuki or pinched from another dealers stock.
Perhaps it may have been poorly re-packed and shipped in another crate?

Hope you get it sorted mate. If it were me I'd be pissed.

No doubt Im pissed but I’m trying to be nice so I get somewhere with them. They did show me a picture of the bike when they got it back to their dealership in the crate. Those pictures are on the first page of the thread. Definitely looks like original crate.
I overlooked those. My bad.
Re the cruise control, the gixer is so much easier to fit up 'cos it's fly by wire.
I have an "Atlas" throttle lock on my Strom and really like it. It's fairly slim and doesn't need connecting rods etc.
I have thought about using one of these on the Bully, but at the moment, I mainly head to pubs within 50kms, with very little highway running. Also, I'm trying to keep the stock(ish) look for now.

I ordered the kaoko throttle lock. Ill update when it comes in. Actually I should start a new thread for that. I also ordered a new rage cycles rear signal kit. Im not sure yet but im thinking about mounting the license plate on the left side of the wheel but horizontally, not vertical. Anybody know of a good kit to do that? Save me a lot of work!
You can find the license plate mounts on Meancycles.com, or on ebay.
