I found this on E-Bay, it has a 17mm Garmin ball

I will try to take some pictures tomorrow..... turned out pretty nice sweet.
I located it just to the left of my Suzuki Touring windshield mount.
It still has some range of motion and seems as though the GPS will stay in it mount.
Put about 200 back road, railroad crossing miles and survived..... :doorag:

Disclaimer.... I have no affiliation with the E-Bay seller, other than I purchased his product and am very happy with the product.

Just cut the ball off a suction cup mount, drill and tapped it for a stud.. drill and tapped the handlebars and screwed the ball right to the bars... Done.

Can't quite figure out what you did either. I couldn't mount to the center as that is where my GiPro will be located under there.

It's alot simpler than it looks really..You could really mount the ball anywhere that suits you.... I not only use it for my GPS but my XM radio as well...

Ok.... I understand what you did...... guess I'm not crazy about drilling holes in my handlebars,(but that is just me) plus I still have my suction cup mount to put my Garmin in my truck too....
