Gave up riding rockets, too old, so let's try a cruiser. I got a 109 because I hate Hardleys but I got a few friends that have some quicker ones and I couldn't handle the idea of a Hardley walking away from me. I originally planned on getting a Valkyrie but I really liked the riding position of the 109(it's the only bike I haven't felt to big for), plus it's got more power and I got a good deal so here I am.

I made some back rests for it and hung some saddle bags off it and took it

down to Florida, I'm from the Detroit area but I'm leaving it at my parents house in Florida for the winter. Me and the wife are planning on riding to key west this winter.

Great site, hope I can offer something here

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your new M109!

I'm another who refers to them as Hardley Ablesons. A few days ago, however, I stopped at a Sheetz (like a 7-11 or Circle K) and was talking to a guy with a Hardley. He said they just came out with an adventure bike (still a v-twin) that is fully water cooled, has air ride (that automatically lowers when you come to a stop) plus many other features. That makes me think of Citroen (for those of us old enough to remember.) Supposedly has many bells and whistles. I will be interested in seeing this probable abomination!

Anyway, enjoy your new ride!

I've also read they are putting that engine in a new Sportster type cruiser/sports bike. I think it's around 150 hp.

Odd that they detuned it for the street. If it's the same engine that's in the Pan America, it's rated at 150 hp in it. It's Hardley, so who knows.
Looks like the PA's compression is one number higher and it also revs higher. Hardley may be saving the extra 30 HP as an advertised improvement in a couple of years.

I've been sick of Harleys since the vrod came out. That company has made way more money than they deserve for 30 years now and the vrod(and now the live wire) is all they can really show from their R&D? They spent years paying Porsche to make them a motor and it was nothing special, the tl1000 had a way better motor and Suzuki just shelved it. The vrods only competition was the 80s vmax and it got spanked all the way around by it. Really? A company making a shit ton of money sets out to build a muscle bike and it's only competition is a 20 year old bike and it gets ate up? Wtf? Fuck Harley, they're an embarrassment to American. Victory started from behind Harley and came out with better American made bike but people kept buying the stupid Harley, I don't get it. Sorry about the rant, I just don't get it
