Exhaust?

Sometimes the stock exhaust is part of the overall look of a motorcycle. The V-Rod exhaust is part of the design and I think the exhaust on the M109 are part of the design- - - even if it looks a little cluttered. I wonder how the M109 will look with a set of aftermarket pipes? How about a 2 into 1 header with a nice chrome muffler? I bet the bike would look a lot lighter.

I like these, but they'll probably burn your leg off.

I am into function over form. Get us an exhaust that performs well and as long as it looks decent I would take it.
Now that's a WAYYYYYYY better pic. Thanks.
Yes!!! Thats the type of exhaust that I want!!! I wonder who makes them.

BaronsCustom.com made them. [email protected] said he can tranform your bike into the pic above for between 5 and 6 grand.

On aftermarket exhaust I wonder if you will loose some bottom end torque because you will removing the exhaust valve that is stock for the 2-1-2 exhaust.
I plan on taking my bike to the local shop and put it on the dyno sometime in the next 2 months for a basline figure. I'm at over 4000 ft here.

Putting it on a dyno for a baseline is the only good way to do performance mods. I plan on doing the same. I really think this bike needs to breath a little better. I noticed when I whack the throttle that it makes a lot of noise before it gets moving, it like it's starving for air.
It's got a mighty big air box. Keeping it above 4 grand ended all the hesitation in mine, but it does cut into my milage. Thank goodness for that 5.2 gallon 49 state gas tank. I'm liking that gas guage set up too.

I like the fuel gage too. I do find that I wish they would have given the speedo a little angle upward so it would be easier to read.
i agee with hal, i think the pipes (factory) is part of the design. and i agree with lamonster the bike needs to breathe trent at thunder told me he pulled the air boxes off and it gained 10 horses, on the dyno. while still having the stock pipes
i dynoed my bike at 2000 miles and when i start making modifications i'll dyno along the way.

This is exactly right!! It's kinda hard to read and get your eyes to adjust when the wind is blowin 90 mph and your eyelids want to turn inside out! Glad to hear someone else shares this thought. Do you think there will be any kind of aftermarket speedo assembly that would tilt up?

Well might get to keep my leg, but hers would definately burn off!!
Great revival JR! And Hal got it right on. I kind of fell in love with the overall look of this bike and one of the most notable items was the OEM exhaust. I know it weighs a ton, but I just think it's looks so aesthetically perfect. Reminds me of the old Honda Nighthawk 650 exhaust times 2.

No matter it is blast from the past. But have to admit, one good looking bike. I like the lines and performance look. Even though I realize those pipes are not what the bike needs in performance. But dam they look good. To bad the pipes couldn't get a cross over or x added to balance the exhaust while leaving the set for the low end. I like
