I HAVE BOUGHT A CHROME ENGINE COVER TO REPLACE THAT FLAT ALUMINUM ONE. FIRSTLY NOT BEING MECHANICAL, AND SECONDLY NEVER TAKEN ANY PARTS OF MY ENGINE, THE QUESTION IS ,.....CAN I JUST SIMPLY LOOSEN THE SCREWS OF THE EXISTING COVER AND REPLACE IT WITH THE CHROME ONE, OR IS THERE OIL IN THAT SPACE THAT I NEED TO DRAIN BEFORE I REMOVE THE COVER ? OR WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE ? THANKS GUYS FOR YOUR REPLY.

It's actually called a "Generator Cover Cap", and yes you can take it off without draining oil. There are no fluids directly behind it.
You also only need to remove three of the six bolts that hold it on. The other three are for show.
Don't remove the top one, start with the one next to it, and alternate through.
