I asked my dealer to check the airbox to see if there was anything clogged and to clean the oil out. They said they would so now I don't know if I still have a problem or they never did what they said. :(

I went from the carwash straight to my house and look how much oil I had on my bike after giving it a good cleaning.

To get the airbox off for cleaning you need to remove these two bolts.

Then you need to remove the screws from the backside of the airbox.

Mine had a lot of oil in it. I guess now I need to find out if this is new oil or the dealer never cleaned out the old oil. ::)

So this is what your air intake looks like. Lot of room for improvement.

I'll be making a phone call tomorrow to see what they say.

Hopefully they just forgot to clean it. That would be my guess, from past experiences with dealerships. Keep us informed.
Just got off the phone with the dealer and I guess the guy that worked on it did not clean out the airbox so that's why I was still getting oil all over the bike. I guess that's good news but it ticks me off that they didn't do that in the first place and the tech didn't seem like he cared and didn't offer an apology for not checking that even though I asked them to. I told him that if he has that problem again that they really need to cleanout the airbox too, he didn't say anything and left me waiting for a comment. They won't be touching that bike after this.

The guy that sold me the bike now says there have been over 20 cases of this that the rep told him about. Sounds like this is going to be a real headache for Suzuki.

I just went through the same thing. Picked it up and drove 15 mins home, oil sprayed down the left side of the bike and dripping out of the left air intake. Called dealer and they picked it up. They promised they would correct the issue. Picked it up the next day and same thing all over again. Dealer picked up bike again and this time the service manager performed the work, first draining all the oil again and doing what the others didn't...cleaning the airbox out! Turns out the second time it wasn't overfilled, they just didn't clean the airbox so all the oil just kept flowing out. Really nasty!

The service manager spent all day alternating between driving and checking the oil in my m109. Total, he logged around 80 miles so he could be sure it was corrected.

To make up for all this hassle he told me the first service would be free...so, that helps a little. Oh, and he promised he would do it! lol

So, suzuki made one hell of a bike. Fast as SH*T, ;D easy and comfortable to ride too. BUT, they need to be on the ball with dealer service depts. :-\

So the service manager rode your bike for over 80 miles? What's up with that? Couldn't he figure out how much oil was in it without riding it for 80 f'ing miles? I would be pissed. I hope he filled the tank with gas!

I was told by one of the other saleman at the dealer ,,,,"Well Tray,,looks like your the test mule"...I told him that wasnt even funny....
My service guy told me they had to go to school for this bike. Suzuki offered a training course for this bike. I wonder how many dealerships took them up on the offer.

Told me the same thing. Guess checking oil was not part of that school. :-\

;D ;D ;D

Plus, it seem like the newer hires do the oil changes and wash the bikes. The supposedly easy stuff.

I wish they washed the bike. They didn't even wipe it down when I got it new. :-\

Lamonster, I'm with you. Did yours have some kind of oily like film on it? And the thing that sucks is that I gave them a two day heads up when I was comming (it rained one day). Do you think that Suzuki has a list of the dealers that attended that training class? And do you know if there is a rating chart on the dealers? I just want to know which butchers to avoid if I truly have a problem.

Didn't have a film out it but it was real dirty, I guess I needed to pay over list to get a clean bike. :-\
I don'y know about any list but it doesn't seem to matter anyway, sounds like even if they went to the school they still don't know much about the bike. :-[
i only have 300 mile on mine. just saw the oil all over the side. i'm glad i read this forum. i thought it was engine oil.. :redfaced:

It is. It's coming out of the crank case breather. :verymad:
hey guys , looks like the overfilling must be a pretty common thing !! it happened to me also ,, the owner of the shop made sure the service manager took the whole left side of the bike apart and cleaned it ,, he kept apologizing and gave me a set of kuryakyn iso grips and magnum mirrors for my trouble . I thought that was pretty cool of him. other than that little snafu I love mine . Have any of you received the leather jacket yet ? I have had mine for a month now and no jacket yet . I wish there were some vance& hines pipes available for it though .
I wish all dealers were as apologetic as yours. That's nice to hear. No jacket yet. Got mine on March 1st, but the jacket wasn't ordered until almost three weeks later. Should be here in time for Summer. :D

I wasn't that pissed as this was the 2nd time it was back for too much oil...I just wanted it fixed. I asked him to do whatever was necessary to make sure I didn't have to come back there again, so he drained all the oil and started new, cleaned the air housing out etc then rode it and checked the oil 3 times totalling about 80 miles. and yes, full tank of gas when I got back. I think since it was the service manager performing the task, he wanted to make sure it was done right.

Regarding the class, I doubt the took it at my dealership as the service manager told me he had to read the manual to make sure it was done correct. Now, if I could only find a dealership that went to the class I'd be happy!

Anyone hava advice on how long would be appropriate to wait before changing to Rotella-T synthetic? I'm just at 600 miles.

Thanks!
G
Lamonster, thanks for the write up. It sure came in handy!
Just to let everyone know that had the engine oil over flow problem. If you look at the top posting withoil on the side cover, mine look just like that. BUT now the paint is bubbling up in that same area. Just talked to Suzuki and they told me to show the local dealer. That will be tommarow. I'll keep you informed. Just to let you know also Suzuki stated that the more report they have to report back to the factory the more likely there is for a recall. That includes the shifting problem we are all having. For Suzuki Customer Service phone number 714-721-1490. It's on the top of my speed dail !!! ;)
