Check, the VL is the Volusia which is carburated. I think in 2005 they went FI on them and changed them to the C50, S50, and M50.
And they still kept the VL, VS and VZ designations. You would think that when they made significant changes they would have given them different model names too. But even back when the VS (Intruder) was a 700 or a 750 they still called it a VS700 or VS750. My wife's 2011 C50 is called a VL800 just like the old Volusias were.

I didn't know that, the service manual I had for my 2006 C50T said C50 Boulevard on it. Somewhat difficult to have a manual for a carb model and be looking at two injectors I would think. I suppose it's just easier, we all know Suzuki doesn't care for change!

I see now that they are calling it the VL800 but have the FI models listed as C, M, and S Boulevards. They changed from Volusia to Boulevard but left the model the same. They could have at least changed the V to a B.
