I don't know if this is the first time they've put bikes on there or not, but it's the first time i've seen them race bikes.

They had a 1982 Suzuki GS1100E vs. a 2002 Harley VROD. They didn't elaborate on any mods either bike had. The first race was heads up, and the GS lost by 4 lengths due to a poor start. I think he was confused about what the start signal was. The GS rider obviously didn't know how to play the negotiation game part of Pinks, and seemed to just want to race heads up, which was a nice change for the show. The 2nd race, heads up again, the GS got his launch down, and smoked the VROD by 4 lengths. The Harley pilot, his confidence clearly shaken, made up some bs about his clutch being overheated. Harley rider negotiated for time to let his clutch cool off (wtf?) and asked for some lengths. The GS rider told him he should have expected his bike to break down, being a harley, and complied and gave him time and 1 length. 3rd race, they both had good launches (harley 1 bike ahead), and the suzuki won by 1 good length. was great fun to watch. they harley guy was overconfident in the money he'd spent. he had no idea that he could be beaten.

It's actually one of the first season episodes if I remember right.  (definitely a good Harley basher)   They raced two Hayabusa's on another episode,  Jason Miller and Mike Slowe running 7 second bikes.  That one was worth watching too.

What ..err..channel? do these come on? Travel? Race (is there a race channel?)

Sorry to have to ask, but don't watch much TV. Heard at an early age that it rots your brain....so I spend most of my time on the internet downloading porn.

I think I seen that episode a while back. As I've said before most Harley riders that I know are clueless when it comes to which bikes are fast and......well, which ones (harley's) are not LOL :)

Thanks guys. Found speed channel in my local comcast line up and set the DVR to record the season. Hopefully it'll grab a couple good shows for me to watch. :doorag:

other good shows on speed to set your DVR to get:

american thunder: custom bikes and mostly harley based customizing (a few metric)
Corbin's Ride On: many motorcycle things, including metrics
superbike: sport bike racing, customizing, and just riding

the old GS1000 Suzuki's were some of the fastest bikes in the day. Suzuki had the first production inline 4 with a 4 valve head TSCC (twin swirl combustion chamber) and were hard to beat in the quarter. the funny bikes and top fuelers still use this motor although highly modified. Kawasaki always had it's hands full running their 2 valve motor against these although they occasionally got some wins.

I had the exact same bike some years ago

Same 83 GS1100E red and all.

With a pipe and jet kit and a little gearing change (not much) I ran low 11s at 123-124mph. Good've run 10s with someon better on the launch.

That was about the same I was getting out of my 85 V-max a few years earlier.

That was pretty decent episode. I wonder if the Suzuk rider toook the bike and sold it?

I also wonder what the loser's compensation is for appearing on the show? It has to be something. Some of the "contestants" put up some espensive cars and bikes. I'm sure they're not doing it for free.

the GS owner said (right in front of the harley guy) to his buddy "Hey, go get a 'For Sale' sign out of the trailer" when he was checking out the vrod. was the funniest part of the show.

On one of the shows they said something about paying money instead of losing the ride.

This new season is for cash. We have an episode shooting here at Firebird Raceway, in AZ next week, I will fill you all in on how it is.
