I'm a brand new rider and was wondering what the biggest tire is that I can fit onto my factroy rims. I have Dunlop E-3/250 on there now. Can I go up to 260 or even to 280? Let me know.

:welcome:to the forum:congrats:eek:n your 9. From what I read on the forum, the largest size you should put on the stock rim is a 260. The 9 was my first bike also. Just take your time. Everyone tried to tell that the 9 was too big for a first bike...screw them.....RIDE SAFE....STAY UP:bigthumbsup:

oh boy, here we go.

but i will answer your question for you. the 260 is what most people will consider to be the largest tire to put on a stock rim safely.

however, some members on here will tell you that you can go with a 280 and technically it will fit. however, the manufacturer of the 280 tire states that specific sized tire should only be mounted on wheels that are 10" wide. to mount a 280 on a stock 8 1/2" wheel is not the safest thing to do.

i would play it safe and go with the 260.

:congrats: on the nine & :welcome: to the site. The 250 Dunnie is actually wider edge to edge then the 260 Metz because of the tire profile and although the Metz is a better tire for an aggressive riding style they are much more expensive then the Dunnie and generally get less mileage due to softer compounds. I just replaced my Dunnie E-3 250 for the second time. I might go with the Metz for front and rear if I decide to spend the money for Coastal Moto's tire and wheel package....

You mean me? Just to clarify, I've never even discussed how wide of a tire would fit on the 9's rims before I started my "spoof" topic on it today, but then again you don't seem to be too interested in facts.......

Not so much that as I'm getting bored with silver colored wheels....and I would like to see just how much better Metz are (according to T-Bone) then what I have been using......now that I don't put so many miles on a year....I would hate to be changing tires every six to nine months. I really do believe Steve's comments on the Metz....just would like to experience it for myself. Hey for $2600...you get the looks and the performance
