Which is better 2 into 1 or 2 into 2?

I'm looking for better/louder sound and increase in performance and have no idea what to go with. I will be making no other mods such as air filter, Power Commander, or anything. Just want to get louder pipes that increase performance without doing anything else to the bike.

Thanks for the help!

2 into 1 works better. Pick one you like the looks of and unless you tune it they will all be close. A good tune will make some work better than others.

A 2 into 1 system will almost always work out better on any 2 cylinder motor.

With a single cylinder on it's own pipe, you would seriously need to restrict flow in order for there to be the same amount of backpressure the next time the exhaust valve opens as you get naturally on a 2 into one system.

That is why stock systems that look 2 into 2 have a 'crossover' or are a 2 into 1 into 2 like the stock 9 exhaust.

2 into 2 systems are either restrictive enough to keep torque or free enough to give you horsepower, but can can rarely give you the natural balance of both that any 2 into 1 system can.

Equal length 2 into 1.

There's a list of formulas to work with to give ideal header length, overall system length & diameters.

bottom line, a 2 into 1 will offer you performance if you get the right collector.
