I can't believe it but it's been 4 years ago today that I joined this site. I bought this bike back in Feb. 06 after seeing it at the IMS show. The bike was new as you all know and little was known about it. I searched the internet and came across this board just as it was being started up. I think I was the 5th or 6th guy to join. This board has come along way in the 4 years I have been a member here. I have made many new friends and learned a lot about this bike.
I do not agree with a lot of the politics that takes place on here but it is what it is and it happens everywhere. I try to keep things in there proper context and realize that this is just a internet forum, nothing more, nothing less. I have seen some really good people get booted or just move on. Guys like JR, Perry, Taz, ann BigPapa just to name a few. Those guys were a huge loss to this site due to their knowlege and willingness to always help a fellow rider out. I still consider those guys good people and friends. I am not one to follow a crowd for the sake of fitting in. If you're a hammer head then you're a hammer head. But if you're good people I will say so and back you as well.
I will say with all the drama that sometimes goes on here this is still one of the best sites around for anything M109 related. New people and some repeat questions don't bother me at all. What does bother me is some of the new folks here that give advice or information on this bike and then fail to give credit to the people who found out that information and shared it with us. There are several people here that give out info and take credit for so call new finds, when in fact they found the info here. Again, I've been here for quite some time now and know what info is old or recycled and what is new. Nothing wrong with passing along info that can help another but don't take credit for other peoples work. That's just total BS.
I'm still happy to have this bike even after 4 years which is the longest I've kept a bike or car for that matter. This bike is a great platform to mod and make it into something really cool. There are wau to many cool 109's to even start listing but that is a direct correlation to this site and the members on it. Like I always say this forum like any other is nothing without the members who participate and contribute to this site. Setting the site up and maintaining it is a tough job and important as well but meaningless without us.
Anyway, have a great summer and ride safe everyone. Hope to see and meet many of you on the big road this year. Now, back to modding. I have my bike close to finshed after some major mods this winter.
