Can anyone find the thread where the question is answered about the weight difference between the stock rear wheel/tire setup and the 280 wheel/tire kit?

I know thw wide tire is about the cool, not the weight. I know the weight of each on a scale is not the same as whe they're spinning. I just want to know the numbers.

Thanks :read:

the only thing I've found so far is the center hub by itself weighs 9lbs?

I guess I'm not going to get an answer until I buy one and post my results. :super:

I copied this from Hal's original post:

Metzeler 11010430 ME880 240/40VR18 REAR weight 18.000 each
Metzeler 11014885 ME880 280/35VR-18 REAR weight 19.30 each
Metzeler 03020055 TIRE ME880 260/40VR18 weight 17.00 each
Dunlop 03020110 TIRE ELITE3 240/40R18 RR weight 21.72 each
Dunlop 03020041 TIRE ELITE3 250/40VR18 weight 22.30 each

My question is this, why does a Metz 260 weigh less than the Metz 240?????
I would have thought 17, 18, 19. The weight would go up as the tire size increases??? :dontknow: :doorag:

From CHUCK: My question is this, why does a Metz 260 weigh less than the Metz 240?????

That question is also moot. It's a bit harder to find. The non-technical answer was it (the weight difference) was in the construction of the tire.

Anyone with the weight of the wheels?

Thanks for the answers guys.
