Here is how Michelin Feels about it

Some consumers will use motorcycle tires designed for the rear on the fronts
of their bikes mounted in reverse. However, this practice is not condoned
by Michelin.

Rear and front motorcycle tires are designed primarily for different
purposes. The rear tire is designed for acceleration while the front tire
is designed for braking. That is why a rear tire when mounted on the front
is mounted to run backwards.

For optimal handling and safety we recommend that both tires have the same
tread design and be mounted to run as indicated on the sidewalls of the
tires.

Thanks again for your inquiry and thanks for choosing Michelin.

The dual compound isn't necessary one the front. My 160/60 Metzeler has about 12,000 miles one it and it's maybe halfway worn down.
