    Default Utah rides

Ok, so I feel a little unqualified to post this as I don't have my bike yet, but I thought it would be interesting to see specifically what people in Utah on this site are riding, including lurkers like me that are chomping at the bit to get the 109.

I'm on my '01 Suzuki Volusia (red / black) that I have been riding for 3 years now and about 14k miles. Soon to have the 109. I've been living in Taylorsville but am now moving to Stansbury Park and selling the Taylorsville house.

Please post what you are riding (year, model, color, etc) and where you are located.

On a similar note, I pulled into a Walmart on 5400 S and Redwood and saw a black 109 there. My new wife saw the look in my eyes and just rolled her eyes at me. :)

Right now I am riding a silver 109. It has the JSD-3, intake mods, debagged, iso grips, re-clearcoated, liscence plate and rear turn signals modded. I also have a shooter that is currently detached.

Looking for a supersport to modify heavily i.e. ZX-14 or used busa or 2007 busa if upgraded.

I grew up in Riverton. So when / where did you get your bike? did you get a good deal on it?
Oh, watch out for the blue LED's, technically they are illegal as they are considered external blue lights, which are only allowed on police vehicles. Don't know if any police will ever say anything about it, though.

Got the bike june 1st, from Edge motor sports. in Draper. got a hell of a deal. Well not too worried about the blue lights, I put a resistor on the circut to cut down the volts going to each series in parrallel, the light is just enough to hight light and make the chrome pop...

Currently riding a black 109. I have mounted led signals to the rear strut and front mounting bracket...Installed the 3m rev limiter and side mount plate. I am waiting for my windshield to be delivered along with dog bones so I can lower the rear end 2 1/2 inches. I will be getting a custom seat made next month and can hardly wait. I live in South Jordan and am hoping someday to get a large group of 109 riders together.

I meet with the Honda riders club down here and do their rides with them. I also meet with a Victory shop and go with them.

It would be cool to take 2 or 3 other 109's.

We could do the alpine loop and snag lunch at Sundance or head to park city and grab some lunch up there one day too.

I would definitely be the guy lagging behind in that group having never ridden sport bikes. I love my Volusia, but it's not a bike known for its cornering abilities.

On a side note, I was just aching to have the 109 last night. I was heading home from work at about 1:30am along I-15 and hwy 201. Was riding near a big fat harley with a big stereotypical harley guy riding on it. He kept pulling up next to me then popping the throttle like he wanted to race (already at 65mph). I just ignored his egging as my little 800cc cruiser would have no chance against his fatboy. The 109, however............

Guess I had better avoid that anyway, I really don't need the tickets.

    Okay guys, lets get a ride organized. Lets try to get together on July 8th. The Holiday will be over and everyone should be settled down by then. Lets put up some suggestions where to go and most importantly where to eat.;

Another UT rider here.¬* I just PM'd 'oldfart' about a recent ride yesterday up Parleys then through East Canyon and dropping down the back side through the pines, past the lake into Morgan county which had some nice stretches and shot back down Weber Canyon... I guess you could do it the other way around... I just went the opposite direction of rush hour. It'll be a very pretty ride in the fall and of course spring. When dropping through Weber canyon I passed Echo Cafe' which had a large group of motorcycles parked out-side... I didn't stop, but we could stop there for meal and continue back across I-15 as everyone takes their own exit home...

I noticed a LOT of road-kill stains all over dropping down the backside of East Canyon... So I don't think I'd want to hit that too late in the evening when the little bugger's come crawling across the road. Plus I like to get on it a bit¬* , last thing I need is 10lb bunny stopping the 700lb monster...

**UPDATE** It's the 15th, 3:15... I'm going to hit the run again... I'll be passing the Imigration Canyon/East Canyon split off (off the East Canyon exit, passed the golf course, 1mile up the long straight wheelie road). Should be there at 3:45

Damn... Remind me to hit this route up during the weekdays... Friday I was able to hit smooth 100-120 speeds, rail'd corners etc, total traffic seen... maybe 5 vehicles. Saturday... Getting on it only lasted so long before I was on the ass of a vehicle. Total vehicles seen: 30+ Bikes / 20+ Cars and I only dipped the backside and flipp'd a bitch due to the bullsheet. I thought my bike was leaking gas... I smelled it all over... couldn't figure out wtf was wrong... THEN 10 minute later I catch up with a truck hauling a boat... everytime the boat went around a corner the gas would pour out of the bitch. I saw the dark line in the road and never thought anything of it earlier on. Couldn't pass, because you were guaranteed to be smashed on your ass with upcoming traffic around every damn corner. I rail'd one corner and thought my head was going to hit the traffic coming the other way... Blah.. miserable!! That's a slow cruise ride or weekdays launch only.
