    Default Painting chrome parts

    I have read till my eyes crossed and I can't find a step by step on blacking out the chrome on the covers. Anyone have a link?

    I know of someone who had his powder coated black which would involve light sandblasting to roughen the surface to aid adhesion, you would need to do something similar before painting.

    I agree Prospector. The best method to use would be to have the parts media blasted with the appropriate media, primer them with deep black primer, and then proceed with the painting process.

    I agree media blast so it's rough, prime with two part primer an paint whatever color. Painted chrome cover on my bike .as above no problem .

    Not on my Nine, but on bikes I've owned in the past, I have painted chrome parts. All I ever did was sand the living beejesus out of them, prime and then paint them. Always black. Never had any peel on me on those bikes.
