Ok so the wife and I will be at a Spyder event in Houma, LA the first week of April. Since we have never been to New Orleans and being so close we figured we would spend a day seeing the town. It will be during the day and returning to Houma in the afternoon.
So looking for places to see/go while we are there for the day. Places to eat??? What are some recommendations?
LOL......Its not as big an event as you would think.
Have a coffe and beignet at Cafe Du Monde is a must.
Some adult beverages at various bars on bourbon street and around the french quarter.
Walk along the top of the levee and check out the Mississippi River.
There are some nice architectural sights like old buildings and churches to see.
Other than that you have your typical tourist trap attractions surrounded by "****-Hole" Urban City.
(Stick to the well traveled areas for out of towner's, there are or were some pretty sketchy areas as is the case with all big city)
You will have a good time though, I always did. ......although I do seem to remember getting a parking ticket almost every time we went to the Big Easy.
I have not been to N.O. since before Katrina but I used to live just a couple hours from there growing up.
Get ahold of Grumpy. If he isn't off shore, I'm sure he would be willing to show you around. He offered to meet me down there one time when I was there on a work trip. Ended up not having any free time tho.
We are looking at the weather and watching. We are suppose to leave this Tues for Shreveport and overnight at the casino. Then head down to Houma this Wed. Right now it doesnt look good but i know the weather this time of year changes ever 5 min. We are hoping to make it. So now its a hurry up and wait game.
I've spent a lot of time there over the years. Fresh crawdads may be available if you like um. I have tried a lot of restaurants and cant remember any that were terrible however I always go to Dragos (in the Hilton I think) and order at least two dozen oysters bruchetta. That is one of my favorites.
I like the fried ones. Dont do the oysters, just cant stomach em. Looking forward to seeing the sites. Wife and I have never been to that area. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.
Change 22....now only 20% chance tomorrow and 65% on Sat....
Apparently I should or grown up tk be a weather guy....you can be wrong and not get fired..
Yep got back Monday. Was pretty warm last weekend. We did have a great time. Was too crowded and the drinks and food were awesome.. will def give a shout the next time we head down there.
