Too many hobbies. This is the short list. The stuff I try to use weekly/monthly. Many more guns, DDs, and such.
Fly for work. Don't need that fix any longer. Had a restoration business many moons ago and had everything from a Staggerwing to a Pby.

I thought seriously about one of those before I bought my latest 9. I decided that if I bought one, I would probably attempt to ride it beyond my abilities and make a mess of things. So I decided to stick with a cruiser. I do still look over the fence though.

I just posted a thread with pics from Sunday's ride out to the BRP with more pictures. It is a fun ride. It is definitely more capable than my comfort level, but I'm getting there.

They are nice bikes, great performance, comfort, and handling... but I vowed never to buy another BMW after I had to pay the dealer $150 every time I needed an idiot light turned off on my 2005 BMW 530. That thing had an idiot light for everything! Oil change light, air filter light, brake pad light, basically, every scheduled maintenance item had it own idiot light that could only be reset by the dealer. The dash of that car looked like a Christmas tree with all the idiot lights when I went in and had them all reset just before I sold it. Never again!!!

i don’t know if their bikes are that way or not, but I’ll never buy one regardless.

I also prefer the simpler more analog bikes so I don’t have to worry about any of the unneeded electronics going bad. Dials on the piggy back shocks work just fine for adjusting pre-load and rebound. I don’t need a button for it or a screen to monitor it. Just one more thing to go bad.

If you want a luxury sport touring bike, it doesn’t get any better than a BMW 1600 tho! It’s just not my preference.

Last week (Wednesday the 14th , to be precise ) I had to go for maintenance service on my 18 Kia Sorrento (free of charge service, of course) and after that , I , as I always do , stopped at the Suzuki dealer which is located on the corner street of the Kia car dealer , to check what is new, etc ... I then saw the new Honda 2018 Gold Wing and sat on it and checked it at close range .
For starters , this is a bike for taller people . I am 5.9 and cut not but barely put the very end of my toes on the floor . That alone is a no go for me , but looking at the rest of the bike , it has now a lot more plastic to reduce weight (a lot of plastic indeed) and the overall look of that much plastic is , at least to me , what gives the bike a cheap appearance .
I was not impressed at all . The mini windshield is just for looks because i cannot imagine that minuscule thing covering any wind at all .
I guess that the BMW is just following the same philosophy ... lots of plastic , very tall seating position , yada yada . and if, with so many electronics , anything malfunctions , it is going to be a costly enterprise , specially after the warranty expires .
I agree with Poseidon in that the possibility of things going bad is huge .
It is a sad situation to think that on a bike like that you really need to think seriously on the cost of maintenance and repairs that cut very well amount to a lot of money .

You've never been fast until you have been in a fast boat. I'd love to take you my friend!
I probably need a good fishing day right now.

I know this seems to be an old thread but I couldn't resist the opportunity to show off my other toy. Also to see if I can figure out how to post a pic.
