    Default Oyster run?

Who's going to the oyster run, where is it and when, and where should one be looking at staying?

    Thanks, I have never been!

Chicky, it's on the 25th of September in Anacortes. that's only a 30-ish minute ride for me. if we wanna make a 9 riders run, let's set up a meeting place/time.
    Current Rigs:
    2007 Chevy Sliverado 1500 xcab z71- "Inmate the 2nd"
2006 Suzuki M109R (dark blue)- "Caboose"

    60RR,
Any suggestions as to low cost accommodations? If Biker Chicky and her hubby go I'll join them.

Um, not right off the top of my head. I'd offer up my house if i hadn't sold it back in july. There's a few hotels here in mt vernon, burlington, and a couple in anacortes. I think the casino is pretty reasonable too.

Thanks 60. Everything in the area is booked over the Oyster weekend so I'll look farther afield.

There's also stanwood, oak harbor, la connor, conway, and sedro woolley. Those are the only other towns i can think of that aren't a terribly long ride. Like i said, i'd open my doors, but i sold my house and am rooming with friends from work

Waiting to hear if I can get those days off work! Nursing, now people are not allowed to get sick or grow old on the weekends!!! Or at night!

will keep an eye on the post. See where your all at, found the web site, looks like it's an awesome event, sure hope it stays warm!

by the looks of it, it appears it is mostly Harley Davidson. Has anyone ever been? And if so is it safe to go with a diffrent bike?

    Chicky,

Here’s some things that I’ve found:
    Yurt $119/day: http://www.rvonthego.com/washington/mount-vernon-rv-campground/rates
    Hotels: https://www.hotels.com/search.do?resolved-location=GEO_LOCATION%3AMt%20Vernon,%20WA%2098273, %20USA%7C48.409420013427734%7C-122.36676025390625%3AGEOCODE%3AUNKNOWN&q-destination=Mt%20Vernon,%20WA%2098273,%20USA&q-check-in=2016-09-23&q-check-out=2016-09-26&q-rooms=1&q-room-0-adults=2&q-room-0-children=0&sort-order=DISTANCE_FROM_LANDMARK
Granted this is going off the assumption that everyone checks in on Friday the 23rd and checks out on Monday the 26th.

I don’t usually need to stay in a hotel I that I had to book myself, so if you guys know of a better site, please let me know. This is also based off my zip code of 98273

Oh fantastic! Thanks for putting in the time to check this out! I have never stayed in a yurt before, too cool!
now all I need to do is keep my fingers crossed that I may get those days off work! I may just come early. I'm thinking the oysters will be available all this month.

Oh, and while it tends to be Harley heavy(really heavy), there’s also a bunch of sport bikes and the local vintage group always show up. I think if enough of us get together, we can make a 9 riders group parking if we show up early enough, and maybe add a couple new members that have 9s but haven’t joined the forum.

Thank you 60ratrod! Holly amazing ! Look at all that cool stuff, and the older bikes are fantastic tooooo! I've been looking in our local classified adds checking out the smaller bikes, do they call them coffee bikes or coffee bobbers or something like that, I don't know the lingo, but I like the nostalgia of these little old bikes. Lol

the 9s you saw were a nice surprise as well, that Buick with the machine gun in it is amazing! Looks like you got some sunshine as well.

I'll be looking at my calander more closely this year so I can get my holidays at this time. Rain or shine! Lol

your awesome thank you so much for posting.

I sold both of my old bike earlier this year so i have soft spot for the old kawasaki kz and suzuki gs bikes. And us guys that are into the old or "vintage" bikes(if you can think of anything from the 80's as "vintage") actually kinda hate the bobber and cafe guys cause they usually chop up a good vintage with a sawzall and call it a day. Very rarely will you see a well done bobber or cafe bike. What i did with my 81 kz is about as far as i would go with doing a cafe. Personally i hate seeing all that frame. But if it's doe right, cafes are really cool bikes. After my move i think i wanna do a vtwin cafe from a vulcan 900, since you can usually get them cheap, like $3kish

Thanks for the lingo clarification, didn't know what was what, so the cafe and the bobber are both modified bikes, are any made like that from factory? Just wondering what stirred up the bikes to be called that?

I look forward to some pictures of your sold bikes and bikes and maybe a few of your next hopeful.

Holly! Check out the double disk brakes on both of those, and the newer bigger bike doesn't have it? Go figure? I realy enjoy looking at these as I learned to ride on the Suzuki 650

    http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/2004-suzuki-savage-650

it did not have double front disk breakers? I hated it! That was one of my main criterias for buying the 9, I'm surprised all bikes don't have double front brakes, it's just so much safer!

you sure have done some great work with those bikes, what an excellent hobby! Isn't it getting harder to finde parts?

well when the 2007 Vulcan 900 is only making a paltry 40hp, double disks are more of a luxury item, where as my kz1000 was about the same weight and was running almost 100hp. and you can bet your backside parts are getting harder to get. there are times where you have to make, modify, or retrofit other parts to keep these things on the road. the gs650g was the hardest to find parts for since it was only made for 3 years, and didn't share many parts with the other gs bikes.
