Good day niners is there anyway to adjust the gear shift lever or will it take some getting use too, coming off a sport bike so it seems I have to stick my foot all the way out to get to the lever to down shift, shifting up is no problem
Might I suggest these mini boards, http://www.kuryakyn.com/products/4686/kinetic-mini-boards
If you are open to it, these will give you a way to customize your foot position. I recently installed them and after trying two other pegs/boards I have found them to be the best so far.
I am 5'10" tall with short legs and I had to get used to it. If you ride often you will get used to it pretty quick. Someone suggested that I try floor boards. I don't think I would like the floorboards on this bike. So I got used to it.
I could be mistaken here. There is a rod that runs from the actual shift lever to the arm on the transmission. I think that rod has some adjustment in the rod ends. Also you could possibly remove the arm from the transmission output shaft and rotate it to a new position, thus changing the shift lever position. The output shaft and the arm on it are splined. You'll have to remove the large chrome cover on the left side to expose the area I'm referring to. three socket head screws retain this cover, one of them in a deep hole at the bottom.
There Sure Is An Adjustment. I Made The Adjustments When I Made & Installed My Heel Toe Shifter. The Red Line Represented The Original Position & Then I Marked A Black Line When My Foot Was Comfortable.
