Default What defines us as an OG?

I joined in 2008 when I was searching for an M109R and bought a 2007 in Pennsylvania. Does that count me as an Original Gangsta?? =)

I still love this site and have missed many opportunities to meet fellow M109Riders. I do see fellow M109Rs on the road, and occasionally get to chat at gas stations. I am so thankful to the guys and gals on this site that have provided technical expertise and parts for my bike "Plum's Passion".

On the 27th of August, I did a no no and hit my brakes in a tight curve and my bike catapulted my into the pavement at 25mph. I dislocated my shoulder and got road rash on both arms and legs. I am enjoying my time at home with the family, and progressive is restoring my bike completely including custom paint. It will be a few months before I can ride again, but I am looking forward to being back on the M109R.

    Godspeed.

Still here. I went to the dark side (no not running a car tire on my 9) and I've been happy. I've always been a "knees in the breeze" kinda guy and I'm now riding a Harley Street Glide Special. Joined in 2007 and saw just about everything happen here, good and bad. I check in almost daily because I made so many friends here and don't want to loose track. Some of my BEST FRIENDS are 9 riders or former 9 riders from this forum. No matter what, I thank this place for that.

At this forums peek, you would have to check in hourly to keep up because there would be SO MANY new posts. Literally PAGES of new posts. Now, one or two new posts daily with HOURS between updates? It's sad. Man, this was THE PLACE to be if you had a 9. I miss that!

OLD - RED 07 loaded, NEW - 2015 StreetGlide Special Black Denim Dropped Bags, CVO Rear Fender, Passenger Boards, Chop Tour Pack, Driver Back Rest, Stage 3 BOOM! Audio, Full Sac Headers, Tuner, Exhaust.

I joined in March '07 as I was researching the 9 before purchase. I don't post much at all but this site was a great help to me toward deciding on the 9, and even now (much slower here than before) I enjoy checking in and seeing what's going on. I still own my 07, and love it.

Hard to believe it's been 12 years since Lamonster waved me over here from another site. Ahhh the memories: passing Kenny Roberts on the last lap at Sears Point....drafting Jay Springsteen down the home straight at San Jose for the win (he's still pissed off)....Stunt doubling for Nick Cage in Ghost Rider. Yeah, I know, never talked about all that. Just didn't want it to be all about me.

I done ran into my baby n found my ol blu jean I could tell they's mine from the oil n gasoline

2018 and still here. Had the bike 12 years and 33,000+ miles now. Finally getting aftermarket rims and a 280 for the back. First time in years I can say "I can't wait!"

Won't make the bike run any better, but it'll certainly tune up the looks.

I know my data on the left says Feb 2009. I was here and bailed, starting in May 2006. Haven't found any quotes older than June 2007 though. If you look in the link below, Post #5 and 7, you can see quotes from a June 2007 post with my handle.

, Ah , there is a bonus , a little less scraping in curves , the wider tire has an avantage when leaning ,
not just for looks , you'll see .

There just aren't any roads here with curves that allow scraping. There's two curves on an access road to a point on Stanley Draper Lake, but they are blind due to forest growth. I just don't have the cajones to haul around them, cause you just never know when a vehicle will be coming the opposite way. NoCanDo!

Other than that, mostly just wide open type curves. The road around Draper Lake is pretty curvy, and is a full 360 degree road, with 26 curves, 13 each way. Amazing. But there is generally a lot of sand or rocks in the road, from people pulling out of off road parking and dragging that junk along with them.

So what I'm saying, it's a rare day when I can even scrape my heels, let alone the peg feelers. Mine are pretty pristine, sad to say. I've not found a road yet where I can get the bike so leaned over, that it will remove the "chicken strips" from the furthest out segment of tire. Close, but no cigar.

Yes, I've had two of them, one for 16 years and 66,000 miles. Yap, hard to scrape anything but engine on those bikes. And the case ends are even tapered to allow further leaning.

Look at the back tire on that thing, it was a 120/90-18. And the front a 100/90-18. LOL Even my 81 CBX only had a 130/90-18 on the back. I could squeeze a Metzeler 140 on the back, due to Metzeler tires always being smaller than the competition.

always gets a laugh when you pull up on a friend's bike , touch their rear tire with the 9's front tire
and the rear of the other bike ( harley ) is NOT the widest of the 2 .
    ..
I had a 900cc 1985 Ninja , I had to modify the chain protector to fit a 160 , that is the size of a front tire now .
...getting off topic maybe , back to the thread

    Default Wow

Didn't realize there were so many "Old-timers" still on the site.

I know I learned a LOT from all of you and I'm sure many others did too.

Thank You for the info and help from many of us
