Planned Route
The ride will consist of a low speed law enforcement escorted staggered side by side procession of motorcycles on a route starting at Lockheed Martin's 9970 Federal Drive Facility just south of the intersection of HWY 83/Voyager and the Interquest Parkway. This is a City Police/County Sheriff escorted ride which means all riders will occupy the right lane ONLY as law enforcement motorcycles leap frog intersections utilizing the left lane at very high speeds.

From there the procession will travel south on HWY 83 with a Colorado Springs Police Department Escort to Briargate Pkwy, then East on Briargate Pkwy to Union Blvd. From there, South on Union Blvd through Colorado Springs just east of Memorial Park to Pikes Peak Ave; Then east on Pikes Peak Ave to Printers Pkwy; Then South on Printers Pkwy to Airport Road; Airport Road out to Powers Blvd Northbound Connecting to HWY 24 Eastbound and out past Peterson AFB to HWY 94.

At HWY 24 and HWY 94 (The 94th Infantry Division Memorial Highway) The El Paso County Sheriff's Office will take over the escort and the procession will travel east on HWY 94 to Curtis Road. The ride will then go North on Curtis Road to Judge Orr Road then turning west to HWY 24 Westbound. Taking HWY 24 West to Meridian the ride will then take Meridian North to McLaughlin Road ending at Frankie's Too just off McLaughlin Road in Falcon for THE after event party.

Note: This ride IS NOT recommended for novice riders due to slow side by side formation riding and soft shoulders on County Roads.

Ride History
The first Defenders of Freedom ride held in 2008 included 215 motorcycles and raised $2,700 for The Wounded Warrior Project. Over the years, the ride has grown to include as many as 500 participants and has raised over $40,000 for special veteran causes. This year's cause is the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF).

Selected Cause
The Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) is a Charity Navigator 4 Star rated IRS 501(c)(3) charity founded in 1980 to provide support and assistance to personnel of the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps or Air Force serving in the U.S. Special Operations Command.
