    Question Derby Cover install?

What is the best way to install a derby cover? I vaguely remember something about taking 3 screws out first, then the rest. Can someone please explain this procedure? And why would it be necessary?

    Thanks in advance

The only screws that are used to hold the cover on are at the 10, 2 & 6 o'clock positions. The others are just dummy screws. No particular order in removing them. Its just a cover, nothing will leak out when you remove it

I got one from cruisercustomizing. It was like $46 and it is chrome and shows the Suzuki logo. Nothing real fancy.

Hi all. First time poster here. Got my new 2011LE just two weeks ago! First mod is a derby cover. Just got through installing it. Questions though; I had to remove the large rubber gasket type ring under the stock one to get the new one to fit. Is this normal? Is there any consequence to it being removed? Also, I had to snug up the bolts pretty good to get it to seat well so it would not rattle. Maybe some washers would be better? It seems alright without them however.

That might be the first thing I swap out, now that I know it's an easy thing. It does look crappy in the middle of a chrome sea.

Klock Werks Flare windshield...Baker Hand Wings...Grip Puppies...passenger pegs removed.
Rivco anodized highway pegs...12V/USB outlet...Superbrite LED flashing brake lamps.

Hey, folks!. Looking at derby covers from Venom Imaging. So far, I've learned the screws that hold the derby cover are at 10, 2 and 6 o'clock. Do the others come out? I may get a matte black derby cover with some blue accents as well as replacement anodized blue socket screws.

Summed up question, could I replace all of the screws in the derby cover? Anyone know the size of those metric socket screws?

When I replaced my Derby cover , I remember reading on the instructions that I should discard the rubber gasket from stock but I also remember putting it back in along with the new cover , and it fit perfect .
I think that I cut some small pieces of the rubber that were protruding out and then it fit correctly . It was some time ago , so , my memory of it is kind of blurry , but in essence I was able to put the rubber gasket back in and it fit perfectly level and tight .

    Thanks for the tip, josey88.

Something interesting when trying to find out the size of the screws. The parts manual only shows two removable screws. I want to replace all of them with blue anodized ones.

Thanks for clearing that up. I saw the quantity of three for each one, but the picture doesn't specify.

If three are dummy screws, why would they be as long as the others?
