I just got mine today. It looks great. I will post some pics up when I get it installed. It is going to be a little bit because it is not just a straight swap. I need to transfer my back off module and I was planing on putting it in the mid harness instead of the brake light one. Thanks again.

That's why you pay to have it done then. As you said buying the equipment is the easy part.

Thanks for the compliment! Dangerous? Illegal? Why do you say that? The "S" part of it that is unpainted is larger than most Harley tail lights and you can see right through the black tint.

I thought the light only came out of the S. I guess I was wrong.

Its illegal to tint tail lights. Whether it is enforced by local PD or not, its still illegal.

Its a moot point though, I have my tail tinted, so I guess I'm breaking the law anyway.

Mine is tinted too and never been a problem. Funny this came up today, I showed the tail light to a local police officer today who rides a 9 and he ordered one from me, guess he doesnt worry about tickets :) Show us a pic of yours, I would love to see it.

Excuse me for my laziness, and I am sure someone has asked this before, but what do you charge for this type of work? I'm thinking of just having the LE candy orange racing stripe continue through my tail light... what do you think? Kinda simple but I want to keep with the flow of the bike.

Anyone know how this is done? A lot of the pics don’t work. Is it painted on the inside? If I want a smoked light, what paint do I use? Or does someone on the forum still do them?

I can't speak for the OP as his work looks killer...very professional looking, but since I wanted to try something like that I got a clear integrated tail light from amazon for $30, got some tinted taillight paint and some automotive clear coat, then ordered some punisher stickers again from amazon. I put the sticker on the taillight and sprayed the tint on a couple of coats...once it dried I started clearcoating...3-4 coats and came up with this....even if this didnt come out good I invested about $50 to try...no harm

It’s pretty easy. They make a paint specifically for this available at auto parts stores. My suggestion, multiple light coats, then clear.

I’ve seen auto body shops do this with a tinted clear and it looks perfect. As with any other paint, it’s all in the prep and patience
